Luxury hotel group, Firmdale launches Food and Film nights this spring at London’s Charlotte Street Hotel.

Food and film go hand in hand, whether a bowl of salty popcorn or a bag of sugary sweets is your movie treat of choice. This spring, the perfect pairing just stepped up a notch, as London’s luxury Charlotte Street Hotel launch their Food and Film nights.

The events will see top British food personalities introduce a film that they’ve been particularly influenced by in their work. That film will be screened in the Charlotte Street Hotel’s private cinema, followed by an audience Q&A, a book signing with the guest and last but by no means least, a decadent three-course dining experience in the hotel’s restaurant.

The first Food and Film night kicks of on Monday 29 April, and sees star of The Food Network’s Caribbean Hunger Phangs, and fashion TV personality, Jonathan Phang share one of his favourite films with fellow foodies and movie buffs. His film of choice is ‘What’s Cooking?, which looks into what happens when American families come together for Thanksgiving. As Brits, we may not experience Thanksgiving firsthand but everyone can relate to those famous family meals and are sure to be charmed by this sweet and funny film.

“I’m thrilled to be sharing this film with anyone who hasn’t had the joy of seeing it before. It’s all about food and family – two vital ingredients for me – and also different cultures and backgrounds coming together for a Thanksgiving celebration. You can’t help but feel moved by it and also quite hungry with all the mouth-watering dishes on display,” says Jonathan.

And guest needn’t worry about getting hungry, as the film will be followed by a delicious meal created in joint partnership with Jonathan himself and Firmdale Hotel’s Executive Head Chef, Robin Read.

Of Chinese-Caribbean decent, Jonathan has co-created a delicious meal filled with the sugary, spicy and fruity flavours he grew up eating as a child in London. And so, diners can expect to tuck into grilled lime and chilli prawns with yam fritters, followed by fiery jerk chicken and a sweet mango tart to finish.

The food personalities to follow on from Jonathan Phang’s debut Food and Film night are yet to be announced, but we’re expecting this to be one of the top foodie and film buff nights to hit the Capital this spring.

Jonathan Phang’s Food & Film Night will take place on Monday 29 April 2013. Tickets cost £49 per person, which includes a Caribbean Cocktail upon arrival plus a three-course dinner and the movie.
