This season, the high street brand is bringing 12 such ladies into the limelight with their new season campaign, ‘Meet Britain’s Leading Ladies’. From an Oscar winning actress to the lady currently at the top of the UK charts, a charity CEO to an Olympic gold medalist, M&S’s Autumn Winter 2013 campaign is both inspiring and refreshing.

Included in the lineup are influential British women of the fashion industry, model Karen Elson and long-running Creative Director of US Vogue, Grace Coddington. Both with their alabaster skin and fiery red locks, they could pass of as the most stylish mother and daughter duo ever in the campaign.

Award-winning artist Tracey Emin and Academy Award winner Helen Mirren represent the women of the British arts industry. Emin donning a pillar-box red coat and Mirren an on trend monochrome check jacket.

Refreshingly it’s not just celebrity faces that pop up in the campaign but women that are celebrated for their achievements from all industries. As have women known for their physical strength and success, prima ballerina Darcey Bussell and Olympic Gold Medalist Nicole Adams.

Representing women that have overcome adversity is Katie Piper, burns survivor who has now become a well-known British TV presenter and relentless charity campaigner.

And finally in the music corner is current No.1 Ellie Goulding and breakthrough singer songwriter and one to watch, Laura Mvula.

These twelve inspirational women have been shot for the M&S campaign by another inspiring lady, world-renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz.

Patrick Bousquet-Chavanne, Executive Director of Marketing and Business Development at M&S said of the decision, “We wanted this campaign to signal a new and confident tone of voice to introduce autumn. Annie was the perfect choice to shoot a campaign of this magnitude. Her unmistakable, signature style, with its truly dramatic aesthetic was exactly what we needed to communicate the essence of the campaign and of the new M&S.”

When it comes to the clothes, M&S’s dedication to quality and ethical standards runs throughout the Autumn Winter collection, as well as a nod to some of the season’s biggest trends.

The campaign will officially launch on 3rd September, and give British women something to be inspired by, whether it’s a new coat or something much more profound.
