The Goring Hotel

The Goring 3StyleNest took a luxurious trip to London’s Goring Hotel, indulging in a stay at the stunning 5 star family run hotel. Situated in Belgravia, The Goring is the closest hotel to Buckingham Palace and has a long and memorable history being one of London’s finest places to visit.

Family run for over 100 years, The Goring has been an integral part of Belgravia since 1910, an establishment set apart from the rest due to four generations of fantastic service. Stepping off the street into the hotel, the Goring experience starts immediately as doors are opened for guests and bags taken. The foyer and reception are a breathtaking sight to behold, a peaceful atmosphere that encourages guests to retreat from the busy world outside. Earlier in the week we received an arranged phone call to discuss any guest preferences, a simple touch that felt both inviting and exclusive to our own personal stay. Following check-in we excitedly find out that our room has been upgraded to The Belgravia Suite. Taking a walk along the nearby King’s Road before our room is ready we soak up the bustling city surroundings, which couldn’t feel further away when inside the quiet haven of The Goring.

Shown to our suite at 2pm, the décor is truly delightful. Details such as the hand-woven Gainsborough silks which decorate the walls and the original and timeless beauty of the lift are all a joy to behold. The Belgravia Suite is a one-bedroom Italian furnished marvel, complete with entrance hall, bedroom, sitting room and marble bathroom. Looking out over the lovely Beeston Place, lights can be dimmed to different levels, providing further essential ambience.

A 24 hour concierge to hand; services available include pressing and a complimentary in-suite cocktail hour. Enjoying a champagne, whisky and angostura bitter-soaked sugar cubes concoction, we mixed up our cocktail using the instructions provided. Exquisitely adding to the experience, this was one of our favourite signature touches to the stay. Molton Brown goodies in the bathroom, there is also a flat screen in the bath tub, a separate shower and heated marble flooring for pure bathing luxury. Our master bedroom boasted more gorgeous silk wallpaper and luxurious furnishings, plus the comfiest bed you could probably ever find.

Fully rested after an excellent night’s sleep, we headed down to the Goring Dining Room for breakfast the next day. All brought to our table, breakfast included pastries, toast, coffee, tea, a bowl of berries and a continental menu to devour. Sampling the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, much like the rest of our stay, the service was impeccable. Checkout being at midday was an added bonus, as there was no rush in the morning, something that compounded the chilled out vibe of our stay. An absolute must-visit, The Goring also plays host to Afternoon Tea in the Goring Lounge and Terrace. Alternatively, enjoy dining and drinking in the Goring Lounge and Bar, with full access to the private Goring Gardens.

If you fancy a break at The Goring and want to immerse yourself fully into the Christmas festivities, from 11th December – 4th January The Goring and English National Ballet are inviting guests to stay at the hotel and enjoy the Nutcracker ballet from a box. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet a ballet dancer, or to take an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the London Coliseum. An ideal excuse to experience The Goring, this is the perfect Christmas present for an aspiring prima ballerina. Soak up the Christmas spirit with the Belgravia suite and sample mulled wine by the fire, a crisp winter walk around the garden or tuck into the Dining Room’s Christmas menu.

An indulgent and inviting option all year round, here at StyleNest we are certain to return to the sumptuousness of The Goring very soon.
