Katherine Griggs

Katherine GriggStyleNest chats to the founder of Baby Bebe Boutique, Katherine Griggs.

Like many new mums, Katherine Griggs found it a struggle finding comfortable, cute and affordable baby clothes for her little ones. So, she took it upon herself to open babybebeboutique.co.uk – a gorgeous online childrenswear store stocking beautiful children’s and baby clothes that won’t break the bank. Stocking some of our favourite kids brands from the adorable Hucklebones to the practical Hatley; Baby Bebe Boutique is going from strength to strength.

We caught up with Katherine to find out how she runs a successful business whilst being a mum to two little girls.

We love Baby Bebe Boutique here at StyleNest; tell us how did it come about?

I became a new mum to a baby girl and was obsessed with online shopping because hitting the shops just wasn’t an option anymore. When my little girl had her afternoon nap and my housework was complete, I would search the web for clothing that was unique, fun and comfortable. I hit a lot of hurdles along route – web shops charged the earth for delivery, I was faced with unfriendly returns policies and I just got too frustrated trying to navigate around an awkward website. I gave up and shopped elsewhere. There are of course some fab designer boutiques out there, but I wanted clothing that my little one could crawl around in comfortably that wouldn’t break the bank. And so, Baby Bebe Boutique was born.

We’re always on the look out for unusual childrenswear brands, what are your favourites?

My favourite summer 2012 collection is by Little Duckling. It is bright, cheerful and beautifully designed.

You’ve got two little girls yourself, how do you juggle motherhood with a successful career?

With a struggle and I do a lot when my girls are in bed.

How would you describe your personal style?

Classic, girly, comfortable and occasionally lazy.

Are you off on holiday this year with the family? If so, where’s great for travelling with little ones?

My toddler is going through a Disney Princess phase, so we are off to Euro Disney for Christmas. I am secretly very excited. Personally, I think it is easier to travel within the UK with children, especially when you have more than one. We do have some lovely beaches in the UK but the weather is unpredictable so it can be a gamble.

We’re always on the look out for delicious recipes adults and little ones can enjoy. Any specialties up your sleeve?

My toddler is a very fussy eater but I find my spaghetti Bolognese always has a thumbs up from the whole family. My mother is Italian so I was taught by the best.

What’s your failsafe everyday look when you’ve only got moments to get ready?

A maxi dress, a beautiful scarf which is great for discreet breastfeeding, and a glam pair of sandals.

Any top tips on how to look great when you’ve only got 5 minutes to get ready?

Have a Brazilian blow dry and your hair will look great all the time

What beauty product could you not live without?

My must-have beauty product at the moment is L’Oreal’s BB Cream.

When you’re not working what do you enjoy doing to relax?

We live next door to Epping Forest and nothing beats a family walk through the forest. Fresh air does you the world of good.

What are you currently reading/watching/listening to?

I’m reading my Bugaboo donkey manual, watching cBeebies and listening to a nursery rhyme CD.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Strawberry Eton Mess.

Finally, what’s next for Baby Bebe Boutique? Can you give us any clues as to what’s coming up for the site?

I am always on the lookout for new brands but they must meet Baby Bebe Boutique’s criteria: beautiful, good quality and affordable. We have stumbled across a fabulous Spanish label so watch this space.
