Red-carpet stylist, Charles Worthington has been an acclaimed stylist over the years, winning international hair awards as well as the ultimate of awards, an MBE. As creative Director of Charles Worthington salons, Charles is a true Londoner seeking inspiration from his doorstep as well as around town.

You have been awarded an MBE for Services to Hairdressing, some might say you have done it all but what has been your ultimate achievement?

There have been many – my MBE and winning British Hairdresser of the Year twice – Fellowship Hairdresser of the Year twice – and launching the Results Charles Worthington product line which was an instant overnight success creating the designer hair care category.

Can you clue any StyleNest readers in on any exciting projects you might be working on?

One Of A Kind salon services exclusive to Charles Worthington Salons, starting with the London Lights treatment – we’re going to be seeing a Summer of blondes. In May, I am relaunching my entire product range and we have the first ever brand ambassador – Alice Eve. It is such an exciting time for the brand and Alice is the perfect fit.

What hair trends are going to be big this season?

The Glazed Bun and Under-braid as seen on the Spring Summer catwalks and the Waterfall Plait – it’s such a versatile style and will work for any occasion – from weddings to festivals.

Where do you get your inspiration? 

London is such a melting pot of creativity so inspiration comes from everywhere – art exhibitions, theatre, film, dance and the street.

Do you have a favourite designer you have worked with?  

Erdem and Roksanda are both so current and great to work with.

Charles Worthington is always at Fashion Week. How do relax once the madness of Fashion Week is over?

I love photography so going for a long walk in the country with my camera and Baxter my American Cocker Spaniel is my idea of heaven.

What advice would you give women who want a dramatic hair change? Colour or cut?

Go and have a detailed consultation with your stylist first before you commit to the appointment. That way, you have time to think about the ideas discussed and make the right decision. Trying on wigs can also be an instant way of seeing how you could look with a drastic new cut or colour.

What can we expect to see from you in 2013?

Watch this space…we always have numerous exciting projects we are working on and 2013 is no exception.

Your range of products just keeps on expanding. What is your ultimate goal?

To be all things to all people and offer solutions to any hair care problem and to always offer the customer ‘affordable luxury’.

How would you define the ethos of Charles Worthington? What makes your salon different to others?

L’Oreal Professional do wonderful hair colours which we use across the salons with all sorts of creative and innovative techniques.

Can you give us some quick-fix tips for those dreaded “bad hair days”?

My Charles Worthington Salon at Home Root Lift Backcomb Powder, is a must for a bad flat hair day. It gives instant root lift and manageability to any head of hair. Also, dry shampoo is a great way to make your hairstyle last a day or two longer.

What hair trends are going to be big next year and how can our readers incorporate them into their everyday routine?

What are your hair secrets?

A great session tip for fine hair is to crimp the root area with mini crimpers for lasting volume that still has movement.
