A little piece of Germany returns to Leeds as one of the largest and most traditional markets, Christkindelmarkt sets up stall in Millennium Square. The market features a scenic winter village of over 40 traditional wooden chalet stalls and alpine style log cabins. There is a host of speciality food, drink and traditional German delicacies including Stollen, Gingerbread, Goulash, Soups, Schnitzels, Bratwurst and Gluwhein. Also, the new Alp Chalet Bavarian eatery provides families and friends with a warm and cosy retreat in which to sample authentic German food and drink.

This is by far one of the largest and most spectacular Christmas markets in the UK and was the site of the original Christmas market in Manchester 14 years ago in 1998, when a group of traders from Frankfurt were invited to host a small traditional German market here. Stalls in St Ann’s Square include a variety of hot foods and the chance to drink mulled wine the German way, in a specialist Gluhwein chalet, as well as a variety of gift stores. St Ann’s Square has also been the home of Manchester’s beautiful, carved Nativity for many years.

This it is the largest authentic German market outside of Germany and Austria and is arguably one of the most popular Christmas markets in the UK. A truly continental atmosphere is conjured up by the lights, sounds and smells of this unique spectacle that is imported in its entirety and then installed in the beautiful setting of Birmingham’s Victoria Square. The whole experience is enhanced with live music every lunchtime and evening from a traditional bandstand.

Winchester Christmas Market is inspired by traditional German Christmas markets. The pretty wooden chalets are situated in the Cathedral’s historic Inner Close surrounding an open-air real ice rink. If you’re looking for that special something make sure you visit the jewellers, painters, glass makers and textile artists selling unique gifts and decorations.

Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre has non-stop entertainment for three days with many different groups, schools and charities performing. The Christmas Fayre is now famous for its entertainment. With two stages, children’s entertainment and street entertainers there is something for everyone. The Cathedral will offer ‘Shopper’s Carol Services’ on Friday and Saturday at 2pm and 3pm and a ‘Living Nativity’ can be found in the Cathedral Courtyard. Santa will be in his grotto in the Abbey Gardens and watch out for many different street artists, choirs and other surprises.

Open right up until Christmas, the Greenwich Market is selling all kinds of delightful festive goodies that will make your Christmas even more special. Mixing up arts, crafts, antiques and more, the market is renowned for selling quirky, unusual and unique items that will more than satisfy even the most picky of recipients. The festive season really gets underway at Greenwich Market from 28th November, when the Christmas lights are switched on amidst carol singing and a special appearance by Father Christmas. As well as giving you the chance to shop for Christmas presents, you can also send the little ones to see Santa this Christmas at Greenwich Market. Children can meet Santa in his grotto on Wednesday 28th November when the market Christmas lights are switched on, and then on select days in the run up to Christmas Eve.
