The Montagu at Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill

Heirloom Tomato with Cashew CheeseRenowned for their delicious vegan menu, The Montagu restaurant in London’s five-star Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill hotel recently won a highly acclaimed PETA award.

Following Ali Parvinjah’s input, the LA Chef worked alongside the Montagu team creating amazing seasonal vegan dishes. Taking away the prestigious title of Best Vegan Menu in the PETA Vegan Food Awards 2014, we were intrigued to find out more. StyleNest dined at The Montagu and sampled the dishes on display, tasting items from both the vegan and main menu.

An ideal spot for people watching across Portman Square, we were led to our table by the window. Enjoying atmospheric lighting and a live pianist, the Friday night festivities were in full swing. The bustling restaurant filled with fellow diners, we began our evening with a glass of Champagne. Choosing the Prawn Cocktail from the A La Carte Menu to start, we enjoyed a selection of red and white wines throughout the meal, chosen for us by our knowledgeable waiter to complement the various courses. For the main, I plumped for the Vegan Menu and the Quinoa & Red Lentil Stuffed Sweet Red Peppers Wilted Spinach with Sauce Provençal, and Crispy Shallots. A delectable choice full of flavour, the dish was beautifully presented and tantalisingly tasty. Dessert also from the Vegan Menu, it had to be the Roasted Hazelnut and Cherry Brownie with Cherry Sorbet. This more-ish pud complete with chocolate fix finished off the meal perfectly. The cherry detail was a refreshing partner to the rich hazelnut, creating texture and taste in abundance.

Other dishes that caught our eye included- the Heirloom Tomato Salad, Macadamia Cheese, Wild Rocket, Chives and Lemon Vinaigrette; Butternut Squash Bisque, Coconut Cream, Fresh Thyme, Nutmeg, Toasted Seeds and Pumpkin Oil and Poached Pear in Red Wine Raspberry Compote with Toasted Almonds. Avid meat-eaters, we thoroughly enjoyed The Montagu’s vegan fare and will definitely return for more of this mouth-watering menu.

If you are need of another reason to visit Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill, an assortment of activities are being held in the run up to Christmas. Taking place from Friday 21st November, The Churchill plays host to Paddington Bear themed afternoons. Offering families afternoon tea with their favourite bear, there will be orange marmalade sandwiches, underground station themed cookies and suitcase brownies to savour. A resident story teller will narrate the Paddington Tales, and guests also have the chance to win tickets to screenings of the forthcoming film. For a decidedly festive and more grown-up feel, the Winter Terrace at The Churchill Bar is open from 1st November, boasting an exclusive menu by Green & Black’s Organic. Running until late February 2015, this pop-up promises to be a unique and decadent destination.
