The seaside comes to the big smoke this summer with The Roundhouse’s Camden Beach pop-up.
They say London’s got it all but as much as we love evening strolls along the murky River Thames, the Capital is lacking one thing – a beach. Well not anymore, as North London’s premier entertainment venue The Roundhouse open their doors to their very own pop-up beach.
Chalk Farm Road is probably the last place you’d expect to find white sand, deck chairs and BBQ beach shack, but throughout August they’ll sit alongside the punks and market stalls of London’s iconic Camden Town.
Entry is free and everyone is welcome, from the trendy twenty-somethings to families with little ones. There’s plenty on offer to keep young and old entertained from ping-pong tables to boules and to keep with the sporting theme, they’ll be showing Olympic events on big screens.
Beach boys and girls won’t go hungry as the Roundhouse pop-up has lots of food and drink delights to choose from. Treat the family to an authentic beach BBQ from the Tiki Shack or wile away an afternoon on one of the many deckchairs, frozen Margarita in hand.
Should the Great British Summer rear its ugly head, the beach may be closed due to downpours, but there is an indoor garden area to ensure you still get that al fresco vibe.
Camden Beach is open seven days a week 11am – 11pm, with the weekends getting very busy thanks to London’s sun-seekers. We suggest heading to the beach during the week for a post work tipple and make use of their ‘Happy Two Hour’ 2 for 1 cocktail deals.
Whichever day you decide to escape to the seaside, make sure you don’t forget to pack the SPF, beach towel and some buckets and spades for little ones.
