3 Irish Counties to Visit This Summer When Coming Over from the States

Let’s start by saying that all of the counties in Ireland are worth visiting. To whittle them down to three was not easy, but we’ve done it for you to bring you a blog post full of Irish inspiration. If you’ve got plans to visit Ireland this summer, this is the blog post for you. Read on to see what three Irish counties we believe Americans should visit.

Untamed Cork beauty

West Cork is overlooked by many. Why? We don’t know. It’s one of the most beautiful counties in Ireland. And it’s one of the best value for money – you can get luxury self catering West Cork cottages and studios for a super cheap price. The wild coastlines, artisanal food culture, and vibrant artistic community all year round make it one of the best counties.

Just find yourself in Kinsale town, which lies right at the ocean’s edge – seafood lovers’ paradise! Fishy Fishy Café should be on your list if you want fresh, locally sourced fish dishes.

If you want historical sites, go to Charles Fort, located strategically overlooking Kinsale Harbor. Drive along Wild Atlantic Way further southwards until Mizen Head Signal Station comes into view. At these more remote areas, you’ll find dramatic cliffside walks that lead through rugged terrain down towards the mighty Atlantic Ocean.

Once finished, DeBarra’s Folk Club in Clonakilty – famous for its intimate live music performances – is the perfect place to relax after such an adventurous day. Well, it depends on how lively the music is, but after a few Guinness, we’re sure you’ll be relaxed.

County Kerry charm

County Kerry has to be on your list.

Kerry is known for its stunning sceneries and deep history – there’s an endless list of things to do if you’re traveling from America. Visit the Killarney National Park, where ancient oak forests are the perfect hiking ground with red deer freely roaming around. Take time to tour Muckross House, which has beautiful interior decorations dating back from the 19th century and vast maintained gardens outside it.

To experience local taste while here, drop by Bricín Restaurant or Boxty House, where traditional Irish boxty pancakes are to die for. You can then wind up your day at Danny Mann Pub, which hosts live sessions of traditional Irish music that will leave you mesmerized.

Historic County Galway richness

County Galway boasts lively cultural traditions like no other place – we’d argue it’s one of, if not THE, most traditional place in Ireland. And, the city’s vibrant arts scene makes Galway home to some of the country’s best-known festivals.

Take leisurely walks around the Latin Quarter in the daytime when streets become packed with colorful shops selling virtually everything under the sun as various street entertainers try hard to entertain passersby. We promise you can spend all day in the Latin Quarter and not get bored. Do not leave before visiting Galway City Museum, which takes you back into medieval times, showing how this ancient town has grown.

To treat your taste buds differently, try out Ard Bia at Nimmo’s – they offer creative Irish cuisine made from locally sourced ingredients with international flavors infused into it! As the sun sets, join locals at The Crane Bar, where traditional Irish music is the perfect background setting for chilling out on cozy evenings.

We’d also recommend visiting The Aran Islands and the Galway Cathedral.

All these countries in Ireland have their individuality – they’re all irresistible places worth visiting anytime throughout the summer. Whether you want to explore green landscapes or enjoy mouthwatering dishes prepared using fresh produce while also getting involved in cultural celebrations, we’ve covered it all for you. You can come back and thank us later…
