Ready for some luxurious rest and relaxation, StyleNest headed out to Oulton Hall Hotel in Leeds. A grand and imposing building, the hotel’s classic elegance and period features are your first perception upon arrival. Reminiscent of a Downton Abbey-style era, stepping into reception feels like a welcome escape from reality. Despite its near city location, Oulton closely mirrors a country break, offering the best of both an urban and rural retreat.
This stay was one for the whole family, and we had two little ones coming along for the ride. After check-in we were shown to our room, the suitably grand Richmond Castle Suite. Comprising a reception entrance plus main bedroom and side bedroom/ dressing room, there was more than enough space for a family of four. Even the bathroom was of generous size, with an enormous bath and stylish detail. A fruit bowl soon arrived, perfect for peckish children as a pre-dinner snack whilst we enjoyed the vast and inviting view of the hotel’s grounds.
Next stop was the spa, taking a dip in the relaxing pool. Family changing rooms made for an easier transition into the water, ensuring both little ones could be changed without much chaos. A bit of exploration found state of the art fitness facilities as well as a stunning spa complete with luxe treatment rooms.
For our evening meal we dined in the Calverley Grill, an ambient restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. Highly accommodating to the children, the three course meal we enjoyed was delicious and the service fantastic. Retiring to bed, we were full to the brim with delicious food and ready for a cosy night’s sleep in our sumptuous suite.
The next morning we enjoyed breakfast with a view, looking out onto the courtyard while tucking into a full English and croissants. After check out and reluctantly taking in the last of the gorgeous view, we set off for the nearby Temple Newsam. Making the most of the family friendly setting and ready for a new day of adventure, we left Oulton Hall refreshed and certain to return again soon.
