Feversham Arms Hotel & Verbena Spa Review

StyleNest recently ventured to the picturesque North Yorkshire market town of Helmsley, delighting in a stay at the idyllic Feversham Arms Hotel & Verbena Spa.

Situated in central Helmsley, we drove through the town after stopping for a delicious pub lunch. Soaking up the rural sights, Helmsley is easy to get to from the A1 and promises an unbeatable journey through the Yorkshire countryside. Plentiful secure parking is available at the hotel, so you needn’t worry about that either.

Upon arrival, we were met with a warm welcome and shown to our incredible luxury poolside suite. Overlooking the outdoor pool and hot tub, the suite boasts an oversized bed, huge bathroom complete with walk-in shower and indulgent tub plus separate sitting room. Signature touches include the option of a turn-down service and complimentary newspaper.

After admiring our home for the night, we popped on inclusive bath robes and slippers, heading down to Verbena Spa. A lovely walk through the hotel, there is a lit walkway which sparkles after dark too.

Décor throughout the hotel is deluxe, indulgent and stylish, inviting you to immerse yourself in a chic escape.

The Verbena Spa experience begins with a reception area and bar for drinks and snacks. We looked to the bar for a G&T later on, after soaking in the hot tub. You then walk through a vast sitting area with plump sofas and calming interiors, reaching a door which leads to spa facilities and outside you’ll find a heated pool, hot tub and seating.

Wandering out to the hot tub, we took a soak and absorbed the sights. A clear, bright day, it was ideal weather. Dipping toes into the outdoor pool, its serenity was pretty breathtaking and fellow guests enjoyed a wintery swim.

Within the indoor spa area you can enjoy: an aromatherapy room, salt inhalation chamber, sauna, monsoon shower and foot spas. Not forgetting, the brand new rasul experience.

The rasul area contains an initial room for applying different kinds of mud- these are categorised in colour according to which body part you apply them to. Once covered in mud (literally from head to toe), yourself and guest step into another room, releasing vapour.

After a set relaxation time within integral spa cubby holes, showers rain down and remove the majority of this mud, leaving skin cleansed and revitalised. Seriously, our skin was so soft afterwards. A gorgeous and renewing experience, the rasul was definitely a high point of our stay and a significant reason for visiting the Feversham Arms Hotel & Verbena Spa. It really sets the tone for your relaxing break.

Keen to make the most of quiet girls’ time, we retired to our suite and read. Snuggling on the sofa and enjoying the twinkly poolside lights outside, dinner consisted of truly delicious room service. You have to try the triple cooked chips. We were still raving about them the next day. Alternatively, if you’re looking to make an occasion if it, the hotel’s Weathervane Restaurant is well worth investigating.

Breakfast calling after a blissful night’s sleep in the most comfortable bed ever, we tucked into continental and cooked plates. Served within a light and airy setting, gluten-free options are also available. The team were attentive and friendly, ensuring a great start to our day.

Happy tummies all round, our last stop was a manicure and pedicure respectively, at Verbena Spa. Taking it in turns, whilst the other had their nails painted we were able to draw out some last ditch relaxation in the spa’s super calming lounge area.

Pulling away from the hotel, we both let out a contented sigh, feeling the benefit of a beautiful Feversham Arms break for days to come.

StyleNest enjoyed a version of the Beat the Blues package, which comprises bed and breakfast in an executive double bedroom, a 30 minute treatment and rasul experience. This is priced from £230.
