42 The Calls Leeds

42 The Calls LeedsFrequented by both local and visiting celebrities, 42 The Calls is Leeds´ award winning 4* star boutique hotel. A beautifully converted 18th Century riverside cornmill, the hotel boasts original features, stunning riverside views, and an unbeatable location in the heart of the city, making it the perfect choice for StyleNest when we decided to head North to explore one of its most stylish cities.

Upon arrival we were greeted with a friendly welcome and a complimentary glass of mulled wine, the perfect way to start our break! After check in we headed upstairs to our room, and were instantly impressed with the cosy wooden décor, beautiful wooden beams, and large windows looking out over the city´s River Aire. As the hotel is boutique in size as well as design, there are no spa facilities or gym, but we were perfectly happy in our warm and cosy room, sipping our mulled wines, enjoying the fantastic view, and getting ready for our evening. And in a city like Leeds, with the fantastic shops and super cool bars for entertainment, you won´t be wishing you were in the gym!

Before we headed out for the night, Amanda, the hotel´s friendly on duty manager, kindly showed us around so we could see more of the hotel, which proved to be just as beautifully designed as our room. All bedrooms were in the same intimate, cosy style, with the original wooden beams, handmade beds, and decorated with original paintings and drawings. Larger rooms boasted a separate sitting areas, king size beds, and in the case of the Penthouse, a huge, deep, roll top bath. As well as been impressed with the hotel itself, we also loved it´s great location. Situated in the heart of Leeds, after an evening out in some of the city´s most fashionable bars and restaurants we were just a short walk back to the hotel, where we snuggled down under the thick, fluffy duvet in our cosy beds for a peaceful nights sleep.

Morning came too soon, and we had an early start. Too early in fact to make it down to breakfast, as due to the holidays it was starting at 8am instead of its usual 7am. We were disappointed, the hotel is famous for its breakfast, which includes locally sourced Yorkshire produce, homemade waffles, freshly baked bread, and a choice of 12 sausages! But the hotel helpfully prepared room service for us, which they delivered to our rooms and left in our ´privacy hatch´, a hatch that can be accessed from inside your room, where you will find your order waiting, without having to be disturbed with the usual room service knock on the door. A very nice touch we thought, and we were even happier when we opened ours to find a delicious continental breakfast waiting for us, with thickly sliced breads, handmade jams and preserves, and a selection of fruits, tea and coffee. We sat down in our small sitting area to enjoy, as we took in the last of the beautiful riverside views before heading home.
