Friends are the family that you choose, and this past year, we’ve needed our friends more than ever. They pick us up when we’re feeling down, they support us through our darkest moments and they cheer us on from the sidelines, and because we love and cherish our friendships, we always do our best to do the same for them.

We may not have been able to spend time with our closest friends this past year, with video call and voice notes helping us fill the void, but with lockdown now coming to an end and restrictions lifting, we’re all looking forward to a well overdue catchup. It’s not always easy to show how much we appreciate these friendships, so I’ve gathered together some simple ways you can spoil your closest friend and show them how much you care. Read on for a little inspiration.

Help them stay safe

The threat of Covid-19, germs and bacteria is still very real. So, why not spoil your friend and show how much you care with a simple gift that will help them stay safe – did somebody say luxury hand sanitiser?! Purdy and Figg offer the best hand sanitiser spray, that will kill 99% of germs. They’re also infused with essential oils that smell great and can give your friends the protection they need from germs and bacteria. As well, you could consider gifting them some new silk facemasks, offering them protection and keeping their skin soft and protected from spots and blemishes.  They’ll love it!

Treat them to brunch

Restrictions lifting means that your favourite eateries and waterholes will be opening up again. So, why not get in early, book a slot and surprise your friend with an indulgent brunch where you put the world to rights and enjoy each other’s company. If you don’t want to sit in a crowded area with other diners, then consider ordering a takeaway option and enjoying a picnic in the park instead.

Introduce them to plants

House plants are incredibly popular right now and it’s a trend that doesn’t seem to be slowing down. The benefits of houseplants are well documented: they purify the air, create a sense of serenity and have soothing properties, they also add a pop of colour and freshness to any room. Spoil your friend with a new houseplant – maybe one that is easy for beginners to maintain and nurture.

A new journal

Your friend might be in the habit of discussing everything with you, but we all need somewhere to write down our deepest thoughts, our latest ideas and even work on our self-esteem. A beautiful journal will help them focus and affirm their thoughts and motivations. Don’t forget to add a couple of gorgeous pens or stationery sets so they can use them straight away.

Final thoughts…

Showing our friends how much we care is easy and you don’t have to blow your budget to show how much you appreciate them. Try some of the ideas above.
