Gillian Kyle Gifts

Gillian Kyle PrintsGillian Kyle gifts bring a touch of retro Scotland to you home.

Forget William Wallace, Rabbie Burns, even Sean Connery; Scotland’s real treasures come in the shape of a foil wrapped Tunnock’s Tea Cake or cold can of Irn-Bru. To honor these Gaelic Greats, Scot and textiles designer Gillian Kyle has created a range of retro home wares, clothing and gifts, from quirky tea towels to baby bibs – perfect for adding a touch of nostalgia to your home.

Based in Glasgow, Gillian’s career in design seemed a natural decision after graduating from Glasgow School of Art. Her dedication to support British industry with her quirky screen prints of a Glasgow Breakfast, Tunnock’s Caramel Waffers and Scottish Pride Bread has proved hugely popular with her homeland and Scottish ex-pats all over the world. But with recent commissions by iconic department store Harrods and whisky giants, Glenfiddich, we predict Gillian’s humble prints to soon go global.

One of our favourite designs has to be Gillian’s witty take on an iconic Glasgow Breakfast (from £8.50 at www.gilliankyle.com). Adorning tea towels, coasters, t-shirts and cotton totes this pop art inspired illustration features famous foods from Scott’s Porridge Oats to Irn-Bru and that childhood favourite, a Wham Bar. Making the perfect gift for a Scot or simple someone with a good sense of humour and a sophisticated palate; this print will add some retro charm to your kitchen.

For a subtler gift, we love Gillian’s simple Tunnock’s Tea Cake prints (priced at £35 at www.gilliankyle.com). Created in red shiny foil and hand mounted, these quirky prints would look great hanging in a kitchen or given pride of place in the dining room.

And for wee fans of Gillian Kyle, we’re loving the range of bibs, baseball tees and babygrows specially designed for little ones and screen printed with foodie delights from tea cakes to retro bread loafs. All the cotton used in Gillian’s products is 100% organic meaning it’s not only environmentally aware but kind to young skin too.
