Get your hands dirty and paint some pottery at The Pottery Café with the children this weekend.

The Pottery Café was launched in 1998 by Emma Bridgewater and was one of the country’s first pottery decorating studios. Although Emma has moved on, she still supplies the café with the Bridgewater staple cream and coloured crockery. The process is not clean but it is simple. You simply, choose your desired piece of pottery to paint, pick your paints and select your handmade sponges and let the fun begin. A studio fee of £5.99 per person, per session includes all materials such as paints, demonstration, decorating sponges, glazing and firing. A session has no time limit.

With four studios to visit, the Fulham site is the original studio and is situated next to Emma’s pottery shop. Served complete with fresh brewed coffee for the parents, the studio also contains The Little Toy Shop, a boutique of treats for your little tots. The Battersea studio is the newest of studios and has a café at the back so you and the kids can decorate away whilst devouring some delicious treats. The Isle of Wight studio comes complete with a café making over 15,000 scones daily and Richmond also boasts The Little Toy Shop which is filled with wooden toys and pocket money trinkets.

If you can’t make it down to The Pottery Café this weekend then why not get creative this Mother’s Day with The Pottery Café’s Mothering Sunday Offer of “tea and cake on us”. For a studio fee of £5.99 excluding your chosen pottery to paint (prices start from £6.95) you can indulge on a slice of home baked cake with tea whilst creating memories for life with the kids.
