Southbank Centre Winter Festival

Southbank Winter Festival at nightWrap up warm, round the family up and head on down to London’s Southbank Centre for a Winter festival.

Where: Southbank Centre, London

When: 18 November 2011 – 9 January 2012

London’s Southbank Centre is alight with all things festive and fun this season, as the London hotspot open’s its Winter Festival.  With the Yuletide smell of mulled wine filling the air and the sweet sound of carol singers you’ll be hard pushed to find a more festive spot in London.  We’ve rounded up some of the Winter Festival’s most Christmassy events.

The Christmas Chocolate Festive runs from 8– 11 December, showcasing stalls with some of the world’s finest chocolate. Treat the children to some warm homemade hot chocolate and bag yourself some stocking fillers at the same time.

Next up is The Real Food Christmas Market (16-23 December) where you’ll be able to warm yourself up with mulled wine and mince pies and pick up any last minute festive ingredients for Christmas lunch. Nuts, spices and a Christmas pudding that we can pass off as our own are top of our list!

To really get in to the Christmas spirit, take the family down to the Southbank from now until Christmas Eve and you will find the gorgeous Traditional Christmas Market. Situated along the River Thames, the festival will include craft stalls, handmade toy stalls and German wooden chalets perfect for a pitstop of mulled cider and traditional Bratwurst.

Finally, on 18 December join the hundreds of carol singers as they belt out your festive favourites around the Royal Festival Hall between 6-7pm.

The Southbank Centre really is the most festive place to be this Christmas and we’re sure there is something to entertain everyone. The celebrations are sure to warm the hearts of even the biggest Scrooges this Winter!

The Southbank Centre Winter Festival runs between 18 November 2011 – 9 January 2012 but check the website before you travel for specific event times and dates. All the events mentioned are free.
