If you’re thinking about planning a weekend in London this Summer, then you’ll find plenty to do around the city to make the most of the warmer weather. Rooftop bars are a great way to make the most of the Summer whilst also taking in the spectacular views of London. If you’re in central London then there are plenty of rooftop bars and restaurants you can choose from, no matter your style or budget, so we’ve put together some of our favourites below.

John Lewis on Oxford Street

Located in the shopping capital, Oxford Street, this rooftop bar is easy to find as it’s on the top level of the giant department store. This year’s theme is the Summer of Sound on The Roof, open until 11pm Thursday through to Saturday and 9pm during the week, this is the perfect place to come after a day of hitting the shops. The rooftop even has a pop-up New York inspired eatery, called Butchies. The buttermilk fried chicken connoisseurs offer some mouth-watering options from the main menu, so why not head up to the roof for dinner and drinks as the sun sets and take in some live music. It’s completely free to get up to, so worth a visit.

Rumpus Room

If you’re after some seriously impressive views over London, then the Rumpus Room located on the Southbank delivers. With a range of British-American inspired cocktails and food and live music on a Wednesday, this is a nice mid-week option, perfect for meeting up with some friends after work. You do need to book as they are restrictive when it comes to walk ins and bear in mind the dress code is smart casual, however it’s worth a visit. Why not get dressed up and head out onc evening to make the most of living in an exciting city!

Skylight London

Another pop-up bar for the Summer, Skylight London offers a range of activities on the roof as well as food and drinks. It’s free to go up but the activities are ticketed. The activities include croquet and Petanque so if you’re in the mood to play some games and have a little competitive fun with friends too, then this could be the bar for you. Located at the Tobacco Dock in Wapping, this is a great bar for after work drinks with some work colleagues or friends. It’s a short walk from Tower Hill station, so if you’re planning on coming down for the weekend and fancy visiting the pop-up bar, then staying close by might be a good idea. The Guoman Tower Bridge hotel is only a 15-minute walk away and allows you to travel easily to other parts of London.

Roof East

A great venue for big groups, if there’s a group of you wanting to find a rooftop bar to pass some time and enjoy the views of London then this is the place for you. Roof East is in East London on top of a car park, so if you need parking, this won’t be a problem! Roof East also hosts different events and attractions, from yoga, batting cages, crazy golf and BBQs there is a lot going on here! It’s completely free to get into, you just need to book tickets for the attractions you want to attend. Why not look at what they have going on and plan in a movie night or a round of crazy golf!
