Edible Cinema at The Aubin Cinema

Aubin Cinema and BarThis August head to The Aubin Cinema in London for an exciting edible cinema experience.

From Secret Cinema’s audience interaction to Scratch and Sniff Cinema where viewers actually smell the film they’re watching, it seems popcorn and a large coke just won’t cut it at the cinema these days.

The latest cinema experience to hit London comes from the renowned Soho House Group whose East London Aubin Cinema is taking on a foodie theme this summer. On 25th and 26th August The Aubin will show the acclaimed Japanese animation Spirited Away, and to really bring the story to life food designer Andrew Stellitano has created dishes that reflect the film’s journey.

The event has been coined, Edible Cinema, and that is exactly what it is as movie buffs eat and drink their way through a film screening in the most decadent and unique way.

Cinemagoers will be given packages upon arrival, which contain the delicious dishes and at certain points throughout the film will be instructed to consume the contents. Whether they’re eating a foaming tapioca ‘soap’ powder as Sen, the film’s protagonist bathes at the bathhouse, or drinking a lightly salted Bombay Sapphire cocktail as Sen eats her first meal as a servant; this is sure to be a unique sensory experience for film and foodie lovers alike.

Not ones to do things by halves, The Soho House Group have enlisted the best creatives to make this an unforgettable experience. Put on by renowned experience organiser Polly Betton, the event has sourced the likes of food designer Stellitano and Bombay Sapphire’s talented mixoligist Sam Carter, who will be awakening visitors’ taste buds with the imaginative, Spirited Away inspired Sapphire Rosato cocktail.

Not only is Edible Cinema a foodie lover’s feast, it’s an overall sensory experience and a great way to enjoy a movie this summer.
