How you choose to plan your big day is, ultimately, entirely your decision. Many people will have known precisely what they want their wedding day to look like for many, many years before the time finally arrives.

That being said, this doesn’t mean that it isn’t fun to look at some of the emerging trends in the wedding world, to see if there’s anything that you might like to integrate into your plans.

If you’re looking for some inspiration, then these are our five 2027 wedding trend predictions, from wellness trends and Y2K throwbacks, to themed weddings and more.

Wellness-informed catering

Wellness isn’t necessarily a new trend in the world of weddings, but 2027 looks to be the year that this trend starts to enter the dining side of things.

That might look like providing locally grown, fresh produce at venues like Heaton House Farm, or non-alcoholic drink pairings that are just as thoughtful and delectable as an expensive wine list.

This emphasis on leaving the event feeling better than you arrived might be foreign to many of us, but it can be a genuinely delightful surprise.

Y2K throwbacks

Weddings have long been a place to embrace nostalgia, and in 2027, that will include a whole host of early noughties throwbacks.

That doesn’t necessarily have to be as intense as a full-on costume party, although in many cases, we suspect it will consist of exactly that.

It can also be integrated into invites, playlists, or the bridesmaids’ dresses. It’s your wedding, you can do it however you like!

Festival-themed destination weddings

For many of us, festivals are some of the purest, most joy-filled experiences we get to enjoy, so it makes a lot of sense to integrate some of that joy into a dream wedding.

Organising a weekend of live music, with street-style food and BBQ options, all-day (and all-night) dancing and multiple other events can be a much more liberating, laid-back format than a more conventional wedding, and you still have the opportunity to have a more formal ceremony at some point.

Bold colours for all

While whites, blues and greys had a bit of a wedding comeback over the past few years, 2027 looks like it’s swinging in the opposite direction.

We’re already seeing a swing towards far more saturated, vibrant tones pretty much across the board. This transition often results in weddings that are far more visually unique and, oftentimes, a lot more joyful.

Attention to detail

Lastly, we’re seeing a wonderful return of bespoke details. Whether that’s placecards carved into little pieces of marble, or high-quality, bespoke wedding stationery, these items might seem small, but they can really have an oversized impact on how guests experience the wedding, not to mention the mementoes they get to take home with them.

If anything, these trends seem to suggest that wedding planning is freeing up even more. While there are still some traditions that remain, people are increasingly recognising that there are simply more fun ways of doing things in a lot of cases.

Whether that’s eating well and waking up hangover-free, or dancing nonstop for three days straight on a clifftop in southern Spain, it’s ultimately up to you to decide which way you take things.
