StyleNest visited the newly re-launched W1 restaurant at London’s Cumberland Hotel for an evening of fine wining and dining.
If you’re looking for somewhere a little special to take a loved one, then look no further than W1 at The Cumberland. Situated just off of the busy hub of the West End’s Oxford Street, W1’s exquisite menu and intimate atmosphere makes it the perfect place to earn some serious brownie points in the gastro stakes.
Located within the heart of the contemporary Cumberland Hotel and smack bang in the middle of bustling Marble Arch, sits London’s latest foodie offering, W1 at The Cumberland. Formally known as Rhodes W1 (run by acclaimed chef Gary Rhodes), W1 recently re-launched under the capable hands of talented Head Chef, Paul Welburn and is set to become talk of the London restaurant scene.
Having launched the likes of the iconic Gherkin Tower, Paul brings with him a wealth of experience, producing a whole host of Heston-esque style culinary delights.
Stylenest were lucky enough to sample the seven-course launch menu, which boasted the likes of the delicious confit of duck served with cep risotto and an ingenious espresso jus and the incredibly moreish English carrot mousse, topped with crunchy salted walnuts and fresh coriander. Yes the food is fancy but the emphasis here remains on taste every time. Food as good as this makes it easy to see how Paul has managed to maintain both the restaurant’s Michelin star and its three AA Rosettes.
The restaurant has also received a complete revamp at the hands of commended British interior designer, Kelly Hoppen, who has cleverly managed to create both an intimate and inviting dining space. Everything from the rich, velvet-covered mirrors to the opulent crystal lighting screams sophistication, yet the dining space remains welcome, unstuffy and intimate.
