Min Jiang

Min Jiang duckThere’s nothing more StyleNest loves than finding a hidden gem in the heart of London. So we couldn’t wait to try Min Jiang, the authentic taste of luxury Chinese cuisine, located on a rooftop overlooking Kensington Gardens.

Marrying melt in the mouth cuisine with breath taking views of London, Min Jiang is not your average Chinese restaurant.

Located in the heart of Kensington, Min Jiang serves contemporary Chinese cuisine, which sets the bar of Chinese dining in another league.

As StyleNest perused the menu, we spotted the Legendary wood-fired Beijing Duck which we had ordered in advance and can be prepared four ways. We selected the option with spicy minced duck and a lettuce wrap.

The stunning view from our table on the tenth floor of the Royal Garden Hotel kept us occupied as we awaited our order. We were lucky enough to visit on a stunning summer evening and to enjoy the beautiful rainbow and rich pink sunset.

Our appetisers of Sichuan Chicken with Sesame and Sesame Chilli Prawn Toast soon arrived and a burst of nutty spices exploded in our mouths, giving us a small teaser of the flavours we were soon to indulge in.

After, the Legendary wood-fired Beijing Duck was served and what a spectacle it was. Presented on a trolley with a chef on hand, the duck was delicately sliced into bite size pieces, perfect for pancake wrapping.

What makes the duck so unique is the crispy duck skin which has been dipped into fine granulated sugar, a classic delicacy of old Beijing. The pancakes are served with two varieties of garnish including the traditional sweet sauce with shredded leeks and cucumber, finely sliced to exact lengths as well as a contemporary version of garlic paste with radish and Tientsin cabbage. They were melt in the mouth delicious.

With paper-thin pancakes and mouth-watering duck, the ritual of making duck pancakes has never tasted so good.

With pleasantly full bellies, the main courses soon arrived, presenting a glazed dish of Sweet and Sour Corn fed Chicken and Sautéed Rib Eye of Beef in Sha Cha sauce. As our Egg Fried Rice with Edamame and Stir fried Rice Vermicelli with shredded Chicken and XO Sauce are neatly being dished up, the remainder of our duck arrived neatly chopped up finely on a bed of lettuce.

Soothing our over zealous appetites, we order a pot of fresh Jasmine tea and watch the now twinkling night sky.

Undoubtedly one of the best Chinese dining experiences in London, complimented by faultless service and a view that never tires, Min Jiang offers a flawless luxury dining experience.
