Gourmet Burger Kitchen: Avocado & Bacon Burger

GBKBBQ season is upon us so what better way to get grilling than with a mouthwatering patty recipe from GBK? The perfect option for the whole family to sink their teeth into this summer. 

What You’ll Need:

  • 2 x GBK Burgers
  • 2 x Sesame Seed buns – sliced in half
  • 8 rashers streaky bacon – grilled until nice & crispy
  • 4 slices red leicester cheese
  • 4 large tbsp avocado mix
  • 4 tbsp bloody mary ketchup
  • 4 tbsp mustard mayo
  • Finely sliced red onion rings (optional)

 What To Do:

  • Grill the burgers on the BBQ or in a griddle pan 
  • When they’re almost done, add a slice of cheese and 2 rashers of bacon to each burger (if your BBQ has a lid, now is the time to close it so the cheese melts properly)
  • Lightly toast the cut sides of the buns on the BBQ or in the pan
  • Spread the mustard mayo on the base of the bun
  • Add the burger patty with bacon and cheese
  • Top with avocado mix and onion rings (if using)
  • Spread the bloody mary ketchup on the top of the bun on the toasted side
  • Place on top and voila!

How to make the extras:

Bloody Mary Ketchup

  • Mix all of these together:
  • 200g Tomato Ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp Horseradish
  • 1 tsp Worcester Sauce
  • ½ tsp Tabasco
  • ¼ tsp Smoked Paprika
  • ¼ tsp Celery Salt
  • Squeeze of lemon

Mustard Mayo

Mix all of these ingredients together:

  • 100g mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp wholegrain mustard
  • 1 tsp english mustard

Avocado Mix

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • Squeeze of lemon and lime juice
  • ¼ tsp dried chilli flakes
  • Salt & pepper

 What To Do:

  • Cut the avocados in half, remove the stone and scoop flesh into a bowl
  • Add the lemon & lime juice and chilli flakes
  • Use a table knife to roughly chop the avocado into bite size pieces
  • Season to taste with salt & pepper and mix through

Be careful not to over mix, you want to keep the avocado mix quite chunky.
