Easy Easter Nests Recipe

Easter Nests postAn extremely easy-to-make and wonderfully chocolaty Easter treat. This recipe is perfect to try with small children and will go down a treat with everybody.

What you’ll need:

  • a big bar of chocolate
  • breakfast cereal – puffed rice or corn flakes. (The shredded wheat sort looks more authentic but is extremely chewy.)

What to do:

  •       Melt the chocolate in a bowl inside a pan of simmering hot water, but don’t let any water get into the chocolate because it makes it go all peculiar.  You can use the microwave- however be careful to not overheat it.
  • When melted, remove from the heat and stir in the cereal until coated.
  •  Either on a sheet of greaseproof paper, or directly into paper cake cases, roughly spoon the mixture in and then press a dent in the middle with the back of a spoon to make the nest shape.
  • Leave to set.  When cold you can put in each one a couple of little chocolate or sugar eggs and/or a tiny fluffy yellow chick. Remove the chick before eating, or you will need the recipe for fig bars to clear the fluff out of your tubes.
