It wowed the industry at London Fashion Week, now the Topshop Unique AW12 collection has hit stores and online.
It’s the high-end version of the Arcadia behemoth, but this season the Topshop Unique collection showcased so much more and proved itself as a standalone collection on the LFW schedule.
Under the creative direction of former fashion editor and Voguette, Kate Phelan the collection stood out as one of AW12’s biggest success stories. The range is hitting stores and Topshop online already, with sure to be sell-out pieces from 60s shifts to oversized masculine coats.
Unlike the previous Autumn/Winter collection that saw a somewhat novelty array of animal ear headpieces, faux fur coats and a running 101 Dalmatians theme; this season’s collection has been stripped back and made wearable. With a sophisticated, military silhouette, simple prints and a utilitarian feel; this is the collection real women will want to be wearing through the winter months.
Oversized chunky knits sit beside opulent baroque metallics, whilst a palette of deep khaki, rich autumnal hues and gothic black leather gives the collection a darker edge. A touch of femininity is added with silk retro prints and sequin embellished shifts but played down with plenty of utilitarian zips and WWII inspired masculine coats. In a nutshell the Topshop Unique collection sums up some of AW12’s hottest trends, but makes them tremendously wearable and places them in a relatively reasonable price bracket.
