It’s been a big week for best-loved British store M&S, as they re-launched their e-commerce site and unveiled the latest Best of British fashion collection. The website is slicker and more sophisticated than ever, with a clean, image-heavy design, fresh editorial content and a brand new news feed feature.

This tied in nicely to their latest product unveiling too – the Best of British collection for Autumn 14, which was unveiled as part of London Fashion Week at Somerset House. The collection celebrates quality, design and expertise from the very best UK talent and craftsmanship.

Using M&S’s rich heritage and vast archive, the Best of British collection fuses classic shapes and separates with a contemporary aesthetic – think the classic capsule wardrobe for the modern woman.

For autumn, jacquard florals are juxtaposed with masculine herringbone and checks for that perfect balance of boy-meets-girl. There are some great block colour pieces too, with strong, minimalist shapes and a nod to 60s Britain.

In previous M&S Best of British collections the colour palette has been somewhat muted and simple with a focus on monochrome, greys and classic navy. Autumn 14 however is bold, vivid and brave, with earthy tones of rust and camel, mixed in with royal blue and hot red.

Highlights of the 54-strong piece collection include outerwear – think wrap-me-up, cocoon coats, luxe leather, cosy knitwear in bold hues and masculine inspired accessories.

Pieces are exclusively made here in Britain from the best-sourced manufacturers and suppliers. Sumptuous knitwear from Scotland, hardworking yet stylish footwear from Northamptonshire, and cosy outerwear from Manchester all make up this unique collection.

Show your support for homegrown talent and invest next season.

The Best of British collection will launch online and in store from August 2014, with prices starting at £19.50. Shop the current collection online now at M&S.
