The London Borough of Hackney has enlisted four fashion designers including Mark Fast to support the Love Hackney initiative.
It may not sound like the most high fashion of collaborations, but Hackney Council have commissioned some of London’s hottest designers to back their Love Hackney campaign. Mark Fast, William Richard, Atalanta Weller and Simone Rocha have all designed a limited edition canvas tote, which will be available to the shoppers at four of Hackney’s famous markets.
London’s East End is a hub for creatives, up-and-coming designers and general fashionistas, so this collaboration is sure to get London’s scenesters flocking to the Hackney markets. Once shoppers have collected 10 tokens from the market’s participating traders they will be able to trade them in for one of the exclusive designer totes. The initiative will not only back the young designers (who are all Hackney-based), but it will also support local business and nurture markets in the London borough. It’s also a great way to encourage shoppers to ditch the plastic bags and carry around a chic Mark Fast or Simone Rocha tote instead.
The Mark Fast and William Richard Green designs will be available from January 28th, followed by Atalanta Wella and Simone Rocha’s deigns in the Autumn.
