J W Anderson for Topshop

JW Anderson for Topshop model shotThe J W Anderson for Topshop debut collection will hit stores 14 September, just in time for London Fashion Week.

Starting out as a menswear designer, Irishman J W Anderson only made the foray into womenswear with his AW10 collection. The fashion editors’ seal of approval and a cult following quickly followed – Anderson had the fashion world at his feet.

His latest venture aptly coincides with the launch of London Fashion Week, as Topshop have enlisted Anderson to create their biggest ever designer capsule collection. And what a collection it is, fashion fans, you are in for a treat.

Comprising everything from footwear to apparel, stationery to sweets, this behemoth of a designer-turned-high-street collection gives shoppers the chance to purchase a piece of J W Anderson for as little as 99p – all be it in the form of a retro sweetie.

As for the clothes, they’re full of fun, yet entirely wearable. From boyish striped tees to Anderson’s signature tartan, playful zebra prints to cat print cropped trousers; there’s a print to satisfy any taste.

The statement knit is going to be one of AW12’s most iconic pieces and J W has created an abundance of them. From spooky cat eyes to cute little bats; these hero jumpers reflect the collection’s attitude perfectly.

More classic pieces come in the form of chic pinafore dresses, classic trenches and oversized shirts – perfect if you’re after something a little more understated.  Finishing touches come in the form of masculine loafers, nautical berets and cosy tartan scarves.

Anderson’s inspiration for the collection came simply from his love of all things fun. From nostalgic items like disposable cameras to iconic Rubik’s cubes, Sharpie pens to sugary lollipops; he’s made everyday items fashion worthy.

StyleNest’s verdict? We’d quite happily wear each and every piece.

The J W Anderson for Topshop collection launches online and in store 14 September.
