Our resident dad, Frazer, thought a VIP manicure at Harvey Nicks was a step too far for him, so sent along his beautiful assistant (his wife Jayne) to review the latest manicure from Nails Inc.

While I feel genuinely part of the Stylenest fold, there are certain things which strike me as, well, a bridge too far. Call it liberated or emasculated, but a trip to a luxury event to get my nails done would fall into such a category.

So it was when Nails Inc at Harvey Nichols announced that they were having a special evening for their regulars and VIPs a couple of weeks back. The silver lining on this cloud, though, as that my significantly better half is never averse to a degree of pampering, especially at such an event.

The evening was in part for the launch of their Neon and Nude manicure, which I am reliably informed is like the French Manicure of the future, while the Swarovski crystal pedicure is a show stopper for the pampered tootsie which will add night out glamour 24/7 for six weeks, even if the footwear on top isn’t quite as chic throughout.

While there Jayne ordered her Couture Nail varnish, a bespoke bottle and lid of your own colour, named whatever you fancy and lovingly wrapped, as a perfect treat for your nearest and dearest (even if that is you).

The treatment was raved about upon my wife’s return, as was the free gift pack which accompanied the Couture polish, Olympic standard nail-file and general goodies which made their way home thanks to the wonderful experience, and standard of all on offer. The awards gifted to regulars and newcomers alike apparently added enormously to the evening as a whole, as did the relaxed, informal atmosphere.

There is also a private party pedicure room for the mother needing a degree of pampering; as a tip for your friends, or indeed wife, it beats a box of chocolates. Those near the Athens of the North can visit them in Harvey Nicks, while the store finder can help those elsewhere in the UK, and the products are available online. All was delivered expertly by the eminently charming staff, and the drinks, cupcakes and general bonhomie means that there will be somebody hot-tailing it back to Nails Inc very soon.
