Our mummy blogger and mum-to-be Helena headed to Serenity in the City, Newcastle for a top-to-toe treatment for mums-to-be.
Prominently placed on Jesmond’s Osborne Road, not far from the centre of Newcastle, Serenity in the City offers a haven of tranquillity away from the cold and grey days that seem to be becoming more frequent as Autumn picks up pace. When walking into the salon, the contemporary and stylish reception area instantly radiates warmth, providing an inkling that this visit will be one of utmost relaxation.
I opted for the ‘Elemis Nurturing Massage for Mother-to-be’ as at seven months pregnant I have been searching for a treatment to revive me from the aches and strains of late pregnancy that are causing me terrible trouble sleeping.
Waiting on the floor of the treatment room was an intriguing bean bag configuration; an array of soft towels that covered what looked like a giant squidgy pillow for your body, and a bean bag for your head and shoulders to rest on. As soon as I laid down I was heaven and was instantly making a mental notes as to how I can possibly recreate it at home when struggling to get comfortable at 4am.
After a consultation to discuss my pregnancy and general well-being, the treatment begins with a ‘welcome note’. This consists of a warming and relaxing foot massage, the perfect start to the pampering session. The therapist then moves on to the 75 minute full body massage, tailored for your particular stage of pregnancy and body’s needs.
The end result is a soothed mummy-to-be and an amazing night’s sleep. Exactly what I was looking for.
Not that I need any excuse to return, but there are two events coming up at Serenity which could certainly lure me back.
