Exosome Therapy gives your skin a little bit extra

I visited Dr Lizzie in time for the annual family Christmas get together – which inevitably involves lots of long long aunties and family friends dissecting my love life and lifestyle choices; and I must be honest, this does not fill me with joy! But thanks to a timely visit to the Prager Clinic in Knightsbridge, the vultures could not start attacking my glowing complexion!

I’d heard about Exosomes facial rejuvenation which is designed for busy women like me to get realistic results and a fresh face that lasts. But rather than achieving a static new look, this treatment activates the face’s plumping stem cells via the barrier-carriers on the surface – in other words, giving the lazy cells a boost to help them perform their natural response more optimally.

This was a revelation to me, as, just turning 50, I thought that Botox and fillers were the only option for plumped up skin, but this inventive new treatment is designed to activate the exosomes which naturally diminish with age. Similar to collagen, stem cells get tardy, and this unique facial is a natural assistant to help them do what they should be doing to pad out fine lines and wrinkles, and repair, strengthen, and rejuvenate skin. Best results are achieved with microneedling where the superficial layer of skin is disrupted to give the procedure a head start in communicating with the deep down skin cells.

The treatment itself is rather relaxing as topical gel is applied to numb the skin, and then the therapist will direct the microneedling pen over troublesome areas to ensure the serum works its way deep into the dermis. During the procedure, the microneedling will create tiny micro-injuries in the skin, which allows for the stem cell-derived exosomes to be delivered directly to the cells. This is a must, because while exosomes are nanoparticles, they cannot penetrate skin on their own and therefore need those little channels through the top layers of skin in order to start communicating with skin cells – otherwise, they’d just sit and hang around on the surface of your skin, not doing much!

Post-treatment, there is no down time, as this is a non-invasive procedure- although I did look a little red.  I was just advised to drink lots of water and enjoy the results as your newly awakened exosomes continue to do their thing for up to six to eight months with an increased skin collagen and elastin levels by up to 300%.

One month later and I can still safely say I am glowing and I would definitely recommend this as a long lasting booster.
