Trotting up to Harrods for a facial always puts a spring in my step, and my last visit took me to the basement Pharmacy, which has a fully equipped and tranquil therapy room, away from the hustle of the store, where I was greeted by my Almora Botanica therapist, Brigitta.
Having booked in for the luxury Almora Botanica facial named after an area in the Himalayan mountains which is home to powerful adaptogenic plants that have qualities that help rebalance and rejuvenate naturally, I discussed my concerns pre-treatment as the soft music tinkled in the background.
My menopausal skin seems like it’s losing all its oomph, so trying a system that has been around for thousands of years seemed like a positive choice. Ayurveda is Inspired by the ancient words for life and knowledge, and the range of vegan skincare created by Almora Botanica consists of eleven products to either prevent or repair skin damage, and used in succession were like the holy grail for my face.
Brigitta concentrated on several ‘marma’ points in my face (there are 37 in the head and neck) and used the softly scented products to cleanse and detoxify toxins from my face, neck and head. Using lymphatic drainage techniques and two gemstone Mushroom Gua Sha mushrooms for a soothing treat, I felt like I was transported to a zombie state as the process was so relaxing.
When my 45 minutes was begrudgingly over, I was brought back into the room with a chime of a low bell, and my brain was so calm, yet clear! Plus, the added goodness of the products helped restore my skin to its natural balance, and I was glowing – and this is the most non-invasive and natural face lift that you can have!
If the Ayurvedic view of health is in physical, emotional and spiritual well being creating an alignment – I am happy to sign up for a balancing facial every month.
You can find the range on the website and in-store at Harrods Pharmacy and book a 45-minute Almora Botanica treatment at Harrods redeemable against products.
