Brazilian Blow Dry Review at Lisa Shepherd

Lisa Shepherd salon in London interiorStyleNest endeavour to fight the frizz and gain super sleek locks with Lisa Shepherd’s Brazilian Blow Dry treatment.

Poker straight, beach waves or high volume – hair trends come and go but never has ‘the frizz’ been a look to catch on. Thank goodness then for the Brazilian Blow Dry, which promises to tame your mane and leave you with super sleek locks, all without damaging your hair.

StyleNest headed to Lisa Shepherd’s London salon to review their take on the Blow Dry trend, but rest assured this is so much more than a standard blow-dry. Located just moments from busy Oxford Street, the salon is one of four UK premises with others in Birmingham, Kidderminster and Wombourne.

Customer care is most certainly a priority at Lisa Shepherd with a refreshment area packed with wine, snacks, glossy magazines galore and several iPad stations perfect for catching up on an email or two. Discreetness is important too, with blacked out windows to prevent any embarrassing through-the-window shot to a security buzzer door that ensures you won’t be disturb throughout your treatment.

After a quick iPad session we’re shown to our seat where our stylist talks us through the treatment. Like most beauty treatments there are several factors that contribute to how successful the outcome is – hair type, lifestyle and how well you adhere to the recommended aftercare. So pay attention.

The Blow Dry begins with a deep clarifying shampoo, which strips the hair of any product and opens the cuticles ready to take in the Brazilian Blow Dry. The hair is washed twice with a five-minute gap in between to ensure the hair is ready to gain the full benefit of the treatment. The time flies as we’re treated to refreshments, copious mags to read and possibly the comfiest salon chair (complete with massage) we’ve ever experienced.

Our hair was detangled and dried off with a blast from the drier, leaving us with an unsightly head full of frizz – well, no pain no gain as they say. The Brazilian treatment is then applied, much in the same way a dye would be. The smell is surprisingly non-chemical, with more of a tropical scent. The product is left to work its magic for around half an hour, so it was back to iPads and mags for some me time.

The treatment is ‘sealed’ by blow drying our hair and straightening it with ceramic straighteners within an inch of its life. This is the only downside to the whole experience, as you have to live with poker straight locks for a couple of days in order for the treatment to get the full effect. If you’re used to a bit of bounce and body it can be quite strange, but refrain from the temptation to tie your hair back or style it at all as it will cost you in the long run.

Post treatment care is essential, so ensure you pick up some sulphate free shampoos and conditioners from the salon as this will help to make the Blow Dry last longer.

The outcome is really impressive, especially if like us you’re prone to frizzy, unruly hair. Don’t expect miracles, you won’t come out with a completely different hair type but styling, drying and day-to-day hair care will be much easier.

We can assure you, a Brazilian Blow Dry will save you minutes in the morning and hours battling with the serum and hair dryer in the long run.

A Brazilian Blow Dry treatment at Lisa Shepherd starts from £150 but depends on the length and type of your hair. For more information or to book an appointment call 020 7467 9560 or visit www.lisashepherd.co.uk
