A BETTER APPROACH TO VITAMIN DRIPS, TO REAP THE BENEFITS

The reputation of vitamin drips merely being a ‘hangover cure’ or ‘not necessary if you have a good diet’ are long since gone; the health conscious are more than aware of how depleted our foods are of the vitamins and minerals which used to enrich them in previous decades, before processing techniques, nasty additives and ‘faster food’ flooded our food market. This, coupled with our busier, more stressful lives, and for some, much harder styles of fitness training, we are more in need of supplementation and wellness support than ever.

This is not to say that great food options aren’t available, because thankfully this is a rapidly growing market, but we aren’t quite there yet, and there is still a huge amount of misleading labelling and information out there. Likewise, the supplementation industry is growing year on year, but again we are fed such a worrying amount of misinformation, it is truly hard to know where to invest and what is a total waste of money.

Speaking of wasting money, far too many vitamin supplements are quickly ‘peed’ out of our bodies because our body is unable to absorb enough of the supplement; either due to an ineffective infusion choice for your needs, or due to poor health (ironically, often when you are very deficient in particular vitamins, it can be even harder for your body to absorb them). I have had vitamin drips in the past where I have arrived home and immediately had an illuminous wee – a very bright, very expensive wee! Like everything in the wellness industry, not all drips are created equal.

I can very confidently say that many vitamin drip clinic chains will use 1 infusion for 3 separate customers *To be clear: separate drips, needles etc. but the infusion will be divided by 3 people. Often a franchise, it is an effective way for clinics to maintain their margin and make more profit per customer. The customer will experience some benefits (the hydration from the saline alone, can give customers a feeling of wellness) but they are certainly not getting the maximum benefits or value for money. This cannot be said of LondonCryo – one of the most forward-thinking partners of the wellness industry I have ever come across, they are always 10 steps ahead of the game – and they always use 1 whole infusion per customer.

LondonCryo do not offer gimmicky, on-trend infusions, each infusion is carefully chosen for health, immunity, longevity and wellness. But what makes LondonCryo’s vitamin infusion service so special, is the full 360° plan, advice and facilities available to you to achieve your ultimate wellness goals. For example, if you are on a weight loss journey, you might choose the Fat Burner Infusion alongside LondonCryo’s Lymphatic Drainage and Cryoskin slimming or toning treatments to aid the weight loss, drain toxins and support the skin’s elasticity, for an overall better and faster result.

Or, if you are training hard for a specific sports event, you may have the Performance Plus Infusion alongside Whole Body Cryotherapy and Infrared Sauna to aid recovery (this is a favourite of LondonCryo Founder, Maria Ensabella – a marathon addict, whose recovery vs training time is better in her 50s than it was in her 30s!). Maria really is a living, walking advert and testament to LondonCryo, and an absolute inspiration to women heading towards their 40s and further.

I love that perimenopause and menopause are spoken about so freely now, and that we have knowledge at our fingertips that our mothers and grandmothers could only have wished for, but as a woman of 44 myself, I wish the positive stories would outweigh the downsides a bit more! My social media feeds are flooded with memes of ‘forgetting what I went in the kitchen for’ and ‘PMT mood-swings’ but the reality is, with the right actions, women can thrive, not only in our 40s but well beyond as Maria shows. I had to bend her arm a little to share these pictures of her (although I’ve no idea why – if I was her, this would be my Whatsapp profile pic!); she is in her early 40s on the left, where she looks incredible vs in her early 50s on the right, where she not only still looks incredible, but she also looks stronger and has a real spark about her. It’s so encouraging to see real results like this, but also incredibly significant, to know that a busy mum of 2 (Maria is totally hands-on at her 3 clinics) can look, and more importantly, can feel, the way that she does; she is full of energy and has the sharpest mind – it is exactly what I need to see as I head into the back end of my 40s! The wellness industry (when done well) doesn’t come cheap, but if you can, it is the best investment you will ever make.

When I visited LondonCryo, I chose the Immunity Infusion – I was feeling run down and susceptible to all the bugs that were going around – as a self-diagnosed germaphobe and whining baby when it comes to colds, anything Immunity boosting is music to my ears. The treatment itself is totally comfortable – of course a needle is involved, but Imelda, my nurse was such an expert, I didn’t feel a thing, and then I just sat and chilled out while my body was flooded with beautiful Vitamin C. I feel like Vitamin C is such an well-known, tried and tested vitamin, that it has almost become uninteresting, compared to all the new and exciting findings in the wellness sector, such as adaptogens and NAD+, but I promise you, Vitamin C infusions are truly magical for the body. Although, for good measure(!), I had a Glutathione push (master antioxidant) at the end of the treatment too, administered directly for maximum benefits, and I am rebooking for a NAD+ Infusion because I can’t help myself(!), and I am really curious to experience the difference between the slow release capsules I take compared to a direct intravenous hit – the results are meant to be time-reversing, but ironically, you need to book out at least 2 hours in your diary for this one.

The results? No cough and no cold when my entire family were hit with them, plus a noticeable softness to my skin (face and body) and in case you wanted to know….. no illuminous wee!
