Step 1 – Lip Care
Lips are in danger of getting overly dry so they need a little help. No matter what you use, nothing will look good on chapped lips. Keep your lips looking beautifully moisturised by applying Crème de la Mer’s The Lip Balm every day. It is a rich emulsion that will keep your lips hydrated and glossy. My top tip is to brush your lips once a week, with a soft bristled tooth brush to remove any dead skin. This will keep them looking flawless and always apply a slick of balm before bed.
Step 2 – Lip Liner
Lip liners last for ages so invest in a good one and get the most of out it. Mac Auburn is my absolute favourite. To get the best results, dab a tiny amount of foundation onto your lips, which will give a neutral base and help the lipstick stay on for longer. Run the lip liner along the natural line of your lips, starting in the V of your top lip, and doing one side at a time, then finishing off with the bottom lip.
If you are going for the classic red lip look, use a white lip liner on your top lip, before applying your lip liner. This will give you a cleaner line and more defined edges.
Always remember that lip liner can be used to smooth out any imperfections or thinness in the lips. Just draw the ‘lip line’ as you want and fill it in with lipstick.
Step – 3 Lipstick or Lip Gloss
Make sure you choose the right lipstick for the right occasion; satin is ideal for everyday as it is elegant and flexible. For a more edgy look, matt is ideal and we all know that red matt is a killer. Finally, gloss is glam and can help plump up lips for a special evening occasion. The best colours are pink or nude. Bobbie Brown’s new Sheer Lip Color collection is a favourite. It is slightly retro, not too shimmery and stays on for ages. I love using this on shoots and it always makes my models happy.
