VEGAN BEAUTY BY TROPIC SKINCARE

There are plenty of ‘natural’ skincare ranges to choose from these days but how natural is natural? Well, if you are Tropic Skincare, you are virtuously natural; vegan, cruelty free (not even derivatives that may cause distress to animals such as lanolin, beeswax or honey are used), non-toxic and pure. Besides all that moral goodness, they are also effective and an absolute pleasure to use (except one stinker, maybe… but I’ll come back to that).

After appearing on The Apprentice in 2011, Susie Ma joined forces with Sir Al and created Tropic Skincare; born out of her desire for effective ethical and honest beauty products. The thing that instantly appealed to me, was the ingredients listing- they give every ingredient in 2 lists; the regular ‘inci’ list that is (thankfully) almost commonplace on all products now, giving the scientific name of each ingredient in percentage order (higher on the list = higher amount of that ingredient), but, they also list everything in plain English too! You no longer have to be a scientist to understand what’s in your products! So you don’t need to know that Caprylic Triglyceride is plain old Coconut Oil…..

The products themselves are lovely, consisting of a full range of skin, body and make up items, and they have a real feel of luxury about them sometimes lost in natural brands. The Whipped Body Velvet body butter is a good example of that; fluffy and rich with a gorgeous, soft vanilla scent. The 1 ‘stinker’ I mentioned is actually a hero product (or superhero, if you will); the Super Greens Nutrient Boost Serum. This serum is a super green shot of nutrients to instantly supercharge dull, tired skin. Packed full of anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and nutrient rich chlorophyll, kale, maca root and green coffee extract, this is a superfood shot for the skin! And it absolutely stinks!! The benefits far outweigh the stench of chlorophyll though, so don’t let that put you off! It is incredibly concentrated, so I would recommend introducing it slowly to your skin- apply once every 3 days and slowly increase to daily use.

All in all, this is a really inspiring range and with a string of awards to their name already, Tropic Skincare looks set for a glowing future.
