Now we know this is most probably a look that won’t be achieved on the bus on the way to work but it still deserves a mention. First up is Givenchy, which made an impact to say the least with masks of crystal studs which sparkled down the runway giving a techno glam look aimed to undoubtedly dazzle the fashionistas even in the back row. 1500 Swarovski crystals were applied for each 17 models taking four hours of hard labour.

At Saint Laurent we saw 80s grunge with pops of bubblegum pink sequins and ruffled one shoulder numbers. The hair was un-uniformed with a different style for a different girl. At Saint Laurent we saw a slicked back pony, cropped fringe, polished bob and side partings – the works. What was consistent though was the makeup, with a bare lip, matte skin and plenty of eyeliner. The liner although thick and heavy and totally balanced with a clean and simple complexion for a truly grown up grunge look.

Chanel always channels the beauty trends of the season and this season we saw a collection infused with neon tweeds accented with an accessories collection filled with carabiner clips and graffiti art. Urban chic, the collection was finished with platinum blonde and ink black futuristic wigs all cropped with a flat fringe, chopped with a textured finish. If you were thinking the makeup would be subtle you’d be wrong as the makeup was a translation of tweed for the face. Block colours of pastels made up the statement eye featuring powder blue, antique rose and mint green, painted below the brow and highlighted by a dramatic eyeliner angled in the direction of cheekbones. The bottom and top liner doesn’t join up, giving a harsh and futuristic look.

Rumoured to be in cahoots with Versus, the Belgian born designer Anthony Vaccarello showcased a young and fresh collection filled with mesh and mini skirts, accented with oversized button embellishments. For the makeup Tom Pecheux for Estée Lauder created a contemporary look. “Thanks to Anthony Vaccarello, Paris’ creativity, sophistication and sexiness has been brought to life. To look beautiful, a woman must be unique, so I created a look that is both modern and very Parisian.  The focus is on the eyes to reflect the graphic hints of night blue in Anthony’s collection, while lips and cheeks are nude to capture the freshness and authenticity of the Parisian woman.” – Tom Pecheux, Estée Lauder Creative Makeup Director. Estée Lauder Creative Makeup Director Tom Pecheux led a team of 16 makeup artists to create the beauty look on 32 models, while nail artist Christina Conrad and her team created the nail look using Estée Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquers.

At Louis Vuitton, we saw a bittersweet ending to Marc Jacob’s 16-year reign where the bright yellow checks of last summer were displaced with perhaps connotations of mourning black. Reminiscent of a gothic funeral, the theatrical extravaganza pulled out all the stops with magical escalators, a fountain and of course a carousel. The collection opened with Edie Campbell naked in nothing other than the glittering graffiti of Stephen Sprouse, and we can’t miss that peacock headpiece. With the surroundings ink black and the collection a blend of textured black (apart from the odd pop of denim) the skin was kept milky clean offering a striking contrast to the collection. The eyebrows were enhanced with a thick, straight glossy line whilst the cheek bones were illuminated for an almost supernatural glow. Lips were kept nude and the lids softened with a dusky brown. Clean and fresh, the look was stripped back and kept bare, letting the clothes do all the talking.
