Beauty expert, brand founder and cosmetics heiress, Aerin Lauder launches a beautiful new collection for Autumn/Winter 2013, inspired by her hometown of New York City.
As the granddaughter of Estée Lauder, it’s safe to say Aerin Lauder knows a thing or two about beauty and cosmetics. But the New York native is building a brand name and an industry reputation all of her own, thanks to her eponymous beauty brand, AERIN.
This season AERIN launches the New York City Color Collection – a celebration of city life. The collection reflects the women of NYC and the various contrasts of living in such a vibrant city. So, whether it’s lunch in upmarket uptown or an art exhibition in trendy downtown, the collection will support all situations.
Wearability is at the heart of the AERIN collection, and the centrepiece of the line, the AERIN Fall Color Palette, encompasses this perfectly. Inspired by both the elegance of New York’s Upper East Side and the laid back attitude of Soho, the palette comprises contrasting hues and highlights.
There are three eyeshadows that can be used together or alone, subtlety or built-up – it’s really all about what you want and need for your makeup regime that day. The Barely There shade provides a neutral canvas over the lid, whilst the Smoky Navy and Midnight Shine shades will add a little oomph.
For cheeks the palette also includes a Soft Beige colour, that’ll offer a natural yet polished highlight and definition to the face – much like Aerin’s own makeup look
The New York City Color collection also includes an easy-to-use Kajal Eyeliner for sweep of inky colour around the eye area and two new shades of lipstick, the Madison and the Mercer – of course, named after some of NYC’s most beloved landmarks. Madison is ideal for daywear thanks to it’s modern take on nude shades, whilst Mercer is a little more daring in a hue of deep merlot – the perfect pairing to AW13’s dark florals trend.
Aerin says of the collection, “inspired by an afternoon in the city, with a brisk walk through Central Park or a visit to the museum, this collection speaks to my Fall staples – a great peacoat, a pair of sunglasses and the perfect touch of colour on my lips and cheeks.”
Well, it’s certainly got us wanting to hop the Atlantic for a trip to NYC.
The AERIN New York City Color collection will be available for a limited time from 9 September 2013, at select John Lewis stores, Harrods, Selfridges London and online at Estée Lauder. Prices range from £23.50 for an eyeliner, up to £45 for the palette.
