Wet Look Hair Tips

Wet LookWith the SS15 catwalk awash with wet look hair, we’ve teamed up with Paul Mitchell to bring you a how-to guide.

Playing around with either a pony or loose locks, wet look hair is an ideal way to bring your hairstyle bang up to date this season. After creating a sleek look for the Elle Style Awards, Paul Mitchell Stylist Nicole Hewitt told us “For the slick look we created a sleek low pony tail and tied it into a polished knot. On the hairline, MITCH Barber’s Classic was used to secure the finer hairs”.

Simple to achieve using the right products, we wanted to find out even more about perfecting the wet look technique. Paul Mitchell Stylist Kiri Constantinou gives us some top tips for achieving the wet hair look…

  • This look can vary from very wet to slightly damp. My personal preference is to see a mixture of textures with a wet/gelled root and different levels of wetness for the mid-lengths and ends.
  • The right product is essential for this look is ideal, such as Paul Mitchell Slick Works, a high shine light weight styling wax.
  • Section off freshly washed and dried hair and apply Slick Works to the root area only- you can use a tint brush if you want a flatter root.
  • Throughout your hair, apply liberally Paul Mitchell Super Sculpt- a quick drying styling glaze to lock in moisture and shine to the mid-lengths ends.
  • Finally pick out individual pieces and coat the with a frizz free polish like Gloss Drops for a combination of wetness.
  • Autumn/winter 15/16 sees designers such as Julien Macdonald and Preen playing with dual textures. Ease into the look by teaming retro waves with a slick finish.
