Party Hair Tip: High Ponytail

Seen at the shows Marc Jacobs and Calvin Klein this season the girlish high ponytail is back. Slick back your tresses for a modern take on a glamorous party look.

It’s worth bearing in mind that ponytails work particularly well with one-shoulder dresses, fussy necklines or if you’re wearing an eye-catching statement necklace and luckily it works on every hair type.

Follow our simple steps from the experts at Hari’s on how to achieve this fuss-free look.

  1. A slick ponytail works best on pre-washed hair so it might be worth washing it the night before your party.
  2. Take a square section of dry hair from the top front of head in line with outer eyebrows and clip up out of the way.
  3. Brush the rest of the hair back in to a high pony and fasten in a hairband which matches the colour of your hair.
  4. Take the front section and slightly back comb and twist into a quiff, wrapping the excess hair around the base of the ponytail and fasten underneath with kirby grips.

5. Spray a generous amount of a flexible hold hairspray on to hair to ensure it stays in place no matter how much dancing you do.
