JOSH WOOD; GUARDIAN OF COLOUR, PRECIOUS BLONDE

Josh WoodJosh Wood, colourist to the stars and owner of the beautifully chic Atelier in Notting Hill is extending his hugely successful haircare range. Focussing on colour care it’s cutting edge and very, very clever.

I am already a fan of his root concealer sprays (I recommend them to everyone actually) the wash out colour covers roots and adds volume, and at £12.50 you can’t go wrong. Now, new to the range is the Precious Blonde collection and I have to say, I love it. I’m always a bit nervous about ‘blonde shampoos/conditioners’ because I have this fear that they are going to lighten my hair or weaken my colour damaged hair even further, but in the name of work and with absolute faith in Mr Wood I took the plunge. And I’m very glad I did.

I am naturally dark blonde (or mousey, to be accurate) I’ve been having highlights since my late teens and I love my colour when it’s first done but after a few weeks it can often look much yellower than I would like, and sometimes it has the dreaded ‘brassy’ tone. I just accepted this and timed my hair appointments very carefully so I’d never be at a special event with ‘yellow’ hair, never mind the roots! High maintenance indeed. Well not anymore!

The Precious Blonde collection consists of a shampoo, conditioner and conditioning treatment and they are all an electric violet colour! They contain Lapis Lazuli which helps to give them their incredible colour and a blend of other ingredients including botanical karkade (from the hibiscus flower), pro-vitamin B5 and inca inchi oil (the next wonder oil from the Amazon region) yum! The conditioning treatment also contains quinoa protein and shea butter for strengthening and moisturising the hair.

After just 2 washes and 1 conditioning treatment I noticed a massive difference in my colour -it looks salon fresh again! The brassiness is gone and the lighter parts of my hair look all glistening and shiny! I am so impressed. These will definitely be holding a regular space in my bathroom cabinet; I colour my hair every 8 weeks so I plan to use the Precious Blonde collection from week 3/4 post colour each cycle to keep my colour just the way I like it!
