Aveda Hair at Stella McCartney

How to get chic soft waves with Aveda Hair. Aveda’s Global Creative Director Antoinette Beenders created soft waves at Stella’s AW14 presentation for an “off-duty” look with a bit of edge. Here’s how to copy the look.

Using bespoke products to suit the needs of the model’s hair condition and texture, “we put short hair up in a loose, undone chignon and kept long hair down with a barely there wave created  twirling sections of hair and letting it set with a little heat. We completed each look by tousling and running new Aveda Dry Remedy Moisturizing Oil through hair for extra moisture and shine.” – Antoinette Beenders.

Step 1.

Section hair and prep according to texture and condition. Use Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair to repair and strengthen hair or use Smooth Infusion Style Prep to smooth hair and help tackle humidity or use Pure Abundance Style Prep on fine hair to boost volume.

Step 2.

For the long look: twirl small pieces of hair from the back section first, heat with a blow dryer and let set. Repeat on front 2 sections of hair.

For the short look: guide hair away from face and secure into ponytail just above nape of neck with millinery elastic. Twirl ponytail around elastic and pin in place. Let shorter pieces of hair stay free for a more undone appearance.

Step 3.

For the long look, gently tousle and run Dry Remedy Moisturizing Oil through hair. Also run fingers through the short look with the oil starting at temples and finishing at elastic.

Step 4.

Finish both looks with a misting of Aveda Air Control Hair Spray all over for a strong but barely-there hold.

Top tip. For hair that needs more moisture incorporate Dry Remedy Moisturizing Shampoo and Dry Remedy Moisturizing Conditioner into haircare routine in addition to Dry Remedy Moisturizing Oil.
