The Park Lane Hotel creates baby shower-themed afternoon tea

BabyshowerIn connection to the forthcoming birth of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s second child, The Park Lane Hotel has created a very special Royal Baby Shower Afternoon Tea.

Award-winning pastry chef, Sarah Hartnett, has created a selection of tasty treats, which will be served in the picturesque setting of The Palm Court, the hotel’s famous Art Deco lounge. The Royal Baby Shower Afternoon Tea’s yummy menu will be made with a selection of ingredients that are beneficial to expectant mothers.

Some of the savoury foods which guests will be able to enjoy are salmon with lemon and dill yoghurt and poached chicken served with white pain de mie bread, raisins, red onions and tarragon mayonnaise. Salmon is a rich source of Omega 3, which promotes neurological and visual development while it is also a healthy source of protein and vitamin B, while chicken is a great source of lean protein and also contains a variety of vitamins and minerals.

Other savory items on offer include beetroot bread with honey roast gammon, apple chutney and watercress and golden gross goats cheese on a white fig Panini with hazelnut chocolate and green pea panna cotta with asparagus and pea shoots.

Sweet items will include the petite Pram Cake, a hazelnut, flaxseed & polenta cake served with macaroon wheels. The Milk Bottle – a vanilla milk panna cotta, The Soother, a pink grapefruit and white chocolate mousse as well as freshly baked scones.

However, the showstopper will be the ABC Learning Block, a sticky apricot cake served with orange mousse. The dried raisins, apricots and seeds are a rich source of iron, while the orange mousse contains vitamin C, which aids the absorption of the iron.

The Royal Baby Shower Afternoon Tea will also feature a mixologist, who has created the Baby Love Mocktail especially for the event. The mocktail is a delicious blend of Greek yoghurt, banana, honey, peanut butter and milk.

The event will take place from April 1 to May 31. The open hours are 3.30pm and 4.30pm on weekdays and 2pm and 4.30pm at weekends and will cost £45 per person. Since places are limited, bookings should be made in advance.
