With beautifully nostalgic looks dominating the S/S15 catwalks, Jo Malone’s time-travelling new fragrance collection is the perfect accompaniment

The limited edition Rock The Ages range draws on Great Britain’s history to produce five fascinating aromas capturing different periods of time. Whilst the flares and billowing fabrics in our new season wardrobes nod to the 1960s and 1970s, these imaginative perfumes go far beyond this century and take us on a journey beginning from the late 1400s.

Jo Malone is a brand known for their proud British roots and they’ve drawn on defining eras in the country’s past to produce this collection. Each fragrance conjures up the character and atmosphere of the age it honours to great effect.

Rock The Ages begins its voyage through time with Tudor Rose & Amber, a rich and sumptuous aroma featuring notes of spicy clove, rose absolute and amber. Next we discover the ethereal scent of Georgian Britain, a period of great change spanning from the early 1700s to 1800s. The delicate lily of the valley and ivy in this scent might be nostalgic but they’re also perfectly on trend for spring.

For something a little more dramatic, look no further than Pomegranate Noir. The fragrance aims to capture the intense Victorian era and it certainly does so; with heady Casablanca lily and sensual guaiacwood, this is a powerful evocation of a defining time in Britain’s history.

The collection then takes us through the elegant Edwardian period in the clean and crisp tones of Geranium & Verbana before arriving back in the current day with the innovative Birch & Black Pepper. The contrasting notes of spice and smokiness make this an audacious statement scent.

Rock The Ages might draw on the historical but it’s very much a modern concept. Master Perfumer Christine Nagel hopes the range will stimulate the imagination as well as capturing the illustrious days of Britain’s unique and dramatic past.

‘We wanted to encapsulate these ages in scent, creating a collection that would playfully appeal to the imagination,’ she explains.
