Christmas time is almost upon us… again! Forget last minute panic shopping and M&S mince pies gobbled in a hurry, this year, plan ahead and enjoy the festive spirit to the max by heading out on a Christmas themed day out, for you, or for the entire family.
StyleNest have picked 10 ways to do Christmas in style.
Whether you prefer a brisk walk out with friends in the park, or joining the carol singers, there are plenty of Christmas festivities going on in London and around the country. Join in the jolliness of it all.
There’s nothing quite like browsing the markets in the festive mood! The aroma of spicy mulled wine in the air and that great feeling that you have ‘carte blanche’ for shopping! Gifts are a must right? It’s also the perfect opportunity to sample Christmas gingerbread, nutmeg jam and hot English cider. Join in the fun at one of London’ s many carol services, whether you choose your local church’s or St Paul’s Cathedrals, Christmas tunes will be ringing out all over the capital in December. Our pick? Kensington Palace’s (8-15th Dec) complete with Christmas tales, mulled wine and a 30 foot tree. Ok, so it’s not exactly Christmas themed, but it’s part of the Southbank’s Winter Festival and those giant white rabbits look fairly festive to us! Artist Amanda Parer’s ephemeral artworks are frozen within the Winter Festival habitat and quite breathtaking. London is packed with ‘pop up’ ice rinks, from Broadgate to Canary Wharf. Our favourite has to be the very picturesque Somerset House. With the kids? Try the one at the Natural History Museum so you can always take refuge inside and see the critters if you get too cold! As a couple or with the kids, or even with your four -egged furry friend, a walk in the park is really a tradition for the post chrismas indulgence. Get aeahd of the game and head out for a roam around Richmond Park and reward yourself with a meal or just a few drinks at The Marlborough. Ever so cosy! Sitting on the old man’s lap may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but the kids will thank you for a peek at the main man… Try the Grotto at Kew Gardens for a slightly more refined experience. A trip to Fortnum & Mason’s is almost compulsory around Christmas time. It’s hard to resist the tempting goodies in store, but, mostly, the entire place just oozes Christmas spirit. And, the hampers are a classic. Embrace one of Britain’s finest traditions with a High Tea treat one afternoon. Whether you’re a fan of delicate fancy cakes or the old favourite scones and cream, it’s bound to lift your mood. With its twinkling lights and hustle and bustle, Knightsbridge is awash with shoppers looking for something to set under the tree. Head to Harrods or Harvey Nicks for the best window displays and gaze in awe… Head out of town to the wilds of Weybridge to Crockford Bridge Farm to pick your own spruce. So much more chic than picking it up from Tesco’s…
