Launching exclusively at ASOS.com from mid April is new womenswear brand, Needle & Thread.
As the name suggests, new British brand Needle & Thread takes inspiration from bespoke, hand crafted and unique womenswear design. The label has just launched at online retailer ASOS.com, just in time for this year’s wedding and summer occasion season.
25 debut pieces have been launched for Spring Summer13, in a colour-led, heavily embellished collection. Although not entirely dictated by the season’s trends, the Needle & Thread SS13 collection does tap into a few of them well, both in a wearable and affordable way.
The 60s trend, heralded by the likes of Louis Vuitton and Prada this season, is evident in Needle & Threads collection, through intricately embellished shift dresses and graphic prints. There’s also a nod to the 1920s, with plenty of metallic beadwork and midi length hemlines – perfect for upcoming wedding season.
There’s modernity too, as beautiful feminine and vintage style shapes are given a 2013 makeover with fluro sequins or Aztec influences.
The label itself is the product of designer Hannah Coffin, who honed her talents working at top British brands Karen Millen and AllSaints as a women’s design director. Now out on her own with Needle & Thread, Hannah is involved in all aspects of the design process, from sourcing inspiration on her travels to India, to hand drawing all the designs from scratch.
“Having always wanted to run my own label, the launch of Needle & Thread is the realisation of an ambition I’ve had since I was 14, to create something wearable and versatile in an area of the market that I felt the signature style of my designs could fill,” explains Hannah.
It’s a strong first collection from the debut brand, with an assured, signature aesthetic. Hannah has hinted that future season will see the introduction of a broader range of products and not just fabulous party dresses. Definitely one to watch.
