Soho House Group

Soho House TorontoThe Soho House Group has announced plans to expand with five new houses to be opened worldwide.

With properties including East London hotspot Shoreditch House, country retreat Babington House and newly opened Little House in Mayfair, the Soho House Group has been bringing a little bit of home-away-from-home luxury in the heart of the city to London’s creative set since 1995. As one of the world’s most renowned private members clubs, the brand also holds an abundance of hotels, spas, restaurants and cinemas across Europe and North America, from the glamour of Miami’s Soho Beach House to the painfully trendy Soho House Berlin.

Never one to step on the breaks, the Soho House Group have just announced further expansion with plans to open a further five houses in the next two years, bringing the brand into truly international territory. Nick Jones, founder and CEO of Soho House said of the development,  “Our existing members will soon have homes from home in even more of the world’s creative hubs, whilst the diversity of new members that join these future Houses will undoubtedly make a fantastic addition to our international community”.

The newest editions will be popping up in diverse mix of cities – Toronto, Mumbai, Chicago, Istanbul and Barcelona. Each new property will be designed with the local area in mind whist continuing to subscribe to the classic Soho House style – something the brand has become known for.

After three consecutive pop-ups at Toronto’s International Film Festival, it seems only fitting that the Canadian city is first on the list of new Soho House openings.  A permanent feature from this autumn, Soho House Toronto will be housed in one of Toronto’s oldest hotels, dating back to the 1800s, and right around the corner from the King West Theatre District we’re expecting it to be a hit with the city’s affluent thespian set.

Continuing the company’s success in North America is Soho House Chicago – a trendy converted warehouse building, which is to be transformed into a luxury six-storey building in the heart of trendy Randolph Market. With 35 bedrooms, a pool, courtyard and a glass enclosed bar and kitchen, this is sure to be on the Chicago hotspot list as soon as it opens.

By spring 2013, Soho House Mumbai (the first House to be opened in the Asian Subcontinent) should be completed, followed by Soho House Istanbul the following year. The biggest ever Soho House property, Istanbul will feature impressive architecture from ceilings covered in mythological figures to stunning rooftop pools.

And finally, perhaps the most convenient new venture for Soho House’s British members is to be the opening of Soho House Barcelona. With everything from a Cowshed Spa to a rooftop pool over looking the stunning city and sea, not to mention 60 luxury bedrooms, this is sure to be the ultimate home-from-home for Britain’s media and creative set, and it’s just two hours flight from London.
