After a cooling gel is applied to the skin, your therapist starts to work on the area of your body with the most sun exposure (usually face, neck and shoulders). IPL uses intense pulsed low density light, directly and evenly over the damaged skin (using a small handheld device with a tiny rectangle lightbox on one end), penetrating deeper and deeper into the epidermis, stimulating cells that produce collagen. The treatment takes about 25-30 minutes and is a little uncomfortable to begin with- it feels a bit like someone snapping an elastic band over your skin, at the same time as feeling a hot sensation in the same area – somewhat similar to the pain of waxing. Although the treatment isn’t entirely comfortable, it is bearable, and the results speak for themselves. Over a course of treatments (usually three) new collagen smoothes over the sun damaged or aged skin giving a youthful and glowing appearance that doesn’t fade.

The IPL treatment really is quite unique – it creates healthier, visibly smoother skin and as facials go (and this really is more than a facial), this is long lasting, creating amazing results that can last a few years.
