After spending a glorious summer soaking up the sunshine, my skin was definitely screaming for some serious TLC. It was parched, tired, and in desperate need of a major seasonal reset. Enter the Gold Hydralifting Skin Therapy at the Spa at Park Hyatt London River Thames. Spoiler alert: it is worth every single second of the commute into the city – and the best thing is, you can book in for a full spa day to utilise all the facilities.
The moment you step into this swish hotel, located directly on the south side of the Thames, the chaotic bustle of London completely melts away. The Spa, on the first floor, is a breathtaking, light-filled sanctuary where high-end luxury meets deep, soul-soothing wellness. Even the relaxation suite, which I enjoyed before and after my treatment, was an oasis of calm with comfy day beds and delicious herbal teas.
Everything feels pristine, exclusive, and instantly relaxing, the ultimate home for a treatment inspired by Budapest’s legendary healing thermal baths. An entire floor is dedicated to rejuvenation, boasting a state-of-the-art fitness centre, six gorgeous treatment rooms. But the real showstoppers have to be the stunning, serene indoor pool and those panoramic river views that flood the space with natural light. It is an expansive layout that feels incredibly rare for London, making it the perfect spot to hide away from the busy city below.
What makes this facial so incredibly special is the heritage behind the products. The treatment uses Omorovicza, a cult-favourite skincare line founded by Stephen de Heinrich de Omorovicza and his wife, Margaret. Stephen’s ancestors actually built Budapest’s famous Rácz Spa back in the 19th century, so mineral-rich wellness is quite literally in his DNA. Their patented Healing Concentrate infuses the skin with Hungary’s famous mineral waters to boost elasticity, calm inflammation, and repair the skin barrier. Knowing that rich history made settling into the plush treatment bed feel like pure indulgence.
The treatment itself is a 90-minute slice of pure bliss, flowing seamlessly from one high-performance step to the next. It kicks off with a comforting cleanse using the brand’s iconic Thermal Cleansing Balm, followed by a mineral-rich Hungarian Moor Mud mask to detoxify pores and gently refine the skin. While the mud works its magic, you are treated to fragrant, refreshing spritzes of the Queen of Hungary Mist. Next up was my absolute favourite part – the traditional Hungarian facial massage. Instead of aggressive pulling, the therapist uses a rhythmic, firm “facial yoga” sequence to lift the muscles and encourage lymphatic drainage. It was so soothing I found myself drifting right off to sleep.
After that, a rose-scented gold mask deploys three types of hyaluronic acid to plump and soothe the skin, while the gold repairs micro-damage. They even sweep a gorgeous Gold Shimmer Oil across your arms and décolleté for a subtle, elegant sparkle. Finally, after a super-gentle copper peel to target fine lines, which gives just a light, refreshing tingle; the facial wraps up with an expert massage blending a rejuvenating night cream, a balancing moisturiser, and their Radiance Renewal Serum.
The results? Completely undeniable. I took a selfie just five minutes after the session ended, and I was floored. Looking in the mirror, my cheekbones looked remarkably lifted, all traces of puffiness had vanished, and my skin felt exceptionally soft, bouncy, and full of life. Best of all, there was absolutely zero redness or downtime, making it glaringly obvious why celebrities book this exact facial right before red-carpet events. Stepping back out into London with a fresh, luminous, lit-from-within glow, I felt entirely transformed from head to toe.
