As an “inked” woman, I am very interested to hear all about your products. As a person who has several tattoos, I love the name, as there’s always a story behind a tattoo, was this why you chose it?
We chose Stories & Ink to share the millions of unique tattoo stories around the world. We’re a community-first brand and wanted to put our customer at the heart of every story on what it means to be tattooed. These mini ‘skin stories’ allow us to spread positive messages about inclusivity, diversity and being a little more progressive as a brand.
I love the serum & I know it’s your best seller, but which is your favourite product?
I absolutely love the Daily Moisturiser – it’s an amazing all rounder that looks after tattoos and skin from the moment you wake up. I also get dry skin in winter months, so it works wonders on tattooed areas like arms and legs, which may suffer in colder weather.
How regularly do you recommend using the products?
Our aftercare products are designed to make the healing process a little more bearable, so no flaking or itching. We usually recommend using these products for 2-3 weeks or once itching stops. Our long term skincare products are part of a routine that can be used everyday, to keep colours vibrant and tattoos in the best condition possible. Our Originals Pack (containing the Vibrancy Serum, Highlighting Body Oil and Daily Moisturiser) is a great solution for those wanting to keep their tattoos in the best condition possible.

And how soon after a tattoo?
Once the wrap has been removed, we recommend washing the tattoo in lukewarm (never hot) water. The product can then be applied to tattooed areas gently.
Tattoos are so much more mainstream now than ever, was it this that prompted you to start a skincare range exclusively for tattoos?
My business partner Simon has a lot of tattoos and we were both frustrated at the tattoo market in general. There was no real solution for longterm tattoo skincare and wanted to change this by launching a range that would keep tattoos looking good forever. The market was also overtly masculine, so we also wanted to change the narrative, creating a safe space for women to tell their tattoo stories as well.
Your products include botanicals & natural ingredients – was this a conscious decision?
Always. We know that millions of customers worldwide are vegan, so we always had this front of mind when formulating.
The product design is also worthy of ink itself, who designed these?
Our design agency did most of the packaging, but illustrations were from a UK-born artist called Tom Gilmour.
I’d never considered exfoliating my tattoos, but your product range includes one – how regularly do you recommend doing this?
Exfoliating is good for tattoos (they won’t rub off ha) regular exfoliating e.g. 2-3 times per week can enhance your tattoo by removing dead and dull skin that can form on top of the tattoo.
Finally, what does a day in the life of Simon & Stu look like?
Simon is working as Executive Creative Director for Stories & Ink, helping shape our product development and overall brand direction ready for our launch in the US! I’m currently working across several projects including new product development, website design and building a winning operational team. We are both spinning a lot of plates, but wouldn’t want it any other way!
