Slay on every Zoom Call with these 5 Easy Makeup Looks

How many Zoom calls do you think you’ve been on in the last 12 months? Twenty? Fifty? Two hundred?

If you’re anything like us, working from home life will have made you way more aware of how you look on screen but far less inclined to do a full face of contour just to stay on the couch (top tip: Zoom does come with some inbuilt filters that can help you out on a really bad day).

With this in mind, we’ve put together some easy makeup tips that can keep you looking fresh, even if your dining table is the most exciting place you’ll be today:

All about that base

Laptop cameras are notorious for washing out even the most glowing complexion. We recommend using a dewy, hydrating foundation and a little concealer just to perk up your skin and combat that weird grey lighting that seems to affect every video call. Dab a little cream highlighter to your cheekbones, cupid’s bow and brow bone for an extra glow on show.

Warm up with a little blush

As everyone knows, a good blusher is the perfect way to warm up your complexion (ready for your video call). A cream blusher, applied sparingly, can work better than a powder one as there’s nothing quite as unforgiving as a harsh makeup line on Zoom. Especially when it’s too late to do anything about it!

Get the lash extension look

How many times have you been to work, or on a call and someone mentions you look tired when really, you’re not tired, you just didn’t put lashes or mascara on? Yep, us too. It’s been tricky to get to the salon regularly in the last 12 months, so why not give Russian Lashes a try? So many people experimented with individual lashes, lash extensions and clusters on Tik Tok during the first lockdown and found them way easier to use than they expected.

Magnetic lashes could just save the day

If you literally just want your lashes on for your Zoom call (or you’re running late for a call you had plenty of time to be in), magnetic lashes with liquid liner are the way to go. They’re not sticky or messy and you can literally just pop them on and off as you want. The magnets will keep them adhering between calls. You can even get corner magnetic lashes that accentuate rather than full lash sets if you’re worried about looking too overdone – result!

A glossy lip can work wonders

A bit like blush and contour, heavy lined lips and dark, matte lip colours can look a little unflattering in the harsh light of a Zoom call. Keep it lighter with a glossy, more natural lip colour.

Simply pair your Zoom slay with a smart, work-appropriate top and your comfiest, cosiest joggers (that no-one can see) and you’re good to go!
